Cross-country Skiing At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Men's 15 Kilometre Freestyle
The men's 15 kilometre freestyle cross-country skiing competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics was held on 16 February 2018 at 15:00 KST at the Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre in Pyeongchang, South Korea. In the victory ceremony, the medals were presented by Gian-Franco Kasper, member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee, accompanied by Urs Lehmann, President of the Swiss Ski Association. Qualification A total of up to 310 cross-country skiers qualified across all eleven events. Athletes qualified for this event by having met the A qualification standard, which meant having 100 or less FIS Points or meeting the B standard, which meant 300 or less FIS points in the distance classification. Countries not meeting the A standard were allowed to enter a maximum of one B standard athlete per gender. Cross-country Skiing (sport)
Competitive cross-country skiing encompasses a variety of race formats and course lengths. Rules of cross-country skiing are sanctioned by the International Ski Federation and by various national organizations. International competitions include the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, the FIS Cross-Country World Cup, and at the Winter Olympic Games. Such races occur over homologated, groomed courses designed to support classic (in-track) and freestyle events, where the skiers may employ skate skiing. It also encompasses cross-country ski marathon events, sanctioned by the Worldloppet Ski Federation, and cross-country ski orienteering events, sanctioned by the International Orienteering Federation. Hans Christer Holund
Hans Christer Holund (born 25 February 1989) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who represents Lyn. Holund won the 10 km classical at Junior World Championships in 2008, and debuted in the FIS Cross-Country World Cup in Lahti on 8 March 2009. At the Norwegian National Championships in 2016, Holund was on the SFK Lyn team with Jonas Udjus Frorud and Simen Hegstad Krüger that won the 3 × 10 km relay. Finn Hågen Krogh
Finn Hågen Krogh, born 6 September 1990) is a Norwegian cross-country skier who has competed at FIS Cross-Country World Cup since 2011. Career Krogh was born in Alta. He is of Sami and Norwegian descent. Krogh represents Tverrelvdalen IL. In addition to being a cross-country skier, he played for Tverrelvdalen's senior football team in the 3. divisjon before he had to choose between football and skiing. As Krogh was selected for the youth national team in cross-country skiing, he chose to quit football, but said in an interview with Norwegian TV 2 in 2011 that he believes he could have been a professional Tippeligaen player if he had chosen football ahead of skiing. Matti Heikkinen (born 19 December 1983 in Kajaani) is a Finnish former cross-country skier and World Champion who competed from 2002 to 2019.
