The Men's 50 kilometre classical cross-country skiing competition at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States, was held on 23 February at Soldier Hollow. All skiers started at 30 second intervals, skiing the entire 50 kilometre course. Soldier Hollow
Soldier Hollow is a cross-country ski venue located at the mouth of a Soldier Hollow (Utah), hollow of the same name about southeast of Salt Lake City in Wasatch Mountain State Park in northwestern Wasatch County, Utah, Wasatch County, Utah, United States. Mikhail Botvinov
Mikhail Viktorovich Botvinov (russian: Михаил Викторович Ботвинов); born 17 November 1967 in Lidinka, Soviet Union) is a Russian-born Austrian cross-country skier who competed from 1990 to 2007 for both Russia (until 1996) and Austria (since 1997). Career He won two medals at the Winter Olympics with a silver in the men's 30 km freestyle mass start event in 2002 and a bronze in the men's 50 km freestyle mass start in 2006 (Both for Austria). Per Eilert Elofsson (born 2 April 1977 in Röbäck, Västerbotten) is a Swedish former cross-country skier who competed from 1997 to 2004. He won a bronze medal in the 10 km + 10 km combined pursuit at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Elofsson also won five medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with three golds (2001: 15 km, 10 km + 10 km combined pursuit; 2003: 10 km + 10 km double pursuit), one silver (2001: 4 × 10 km relay), and one bronze (2003: 4 × 10 km relay). Magnus Ingesson
Magnus Ingesson, born February 18, 1971, in Luleå, Sweden, is a Swedish former cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skier who competed from 1993 to 2004. He earned a silver medal in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 2001 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti, and had his best individual finish of ninth in the 15 km event at those same championships. Ingesson's best individual finish at the Winter Olympics was eight in the 15 km event at Salt Lake City in 2002 Winter Olympics, 2002.
