The Crime Syndicate are teams of supervillains from one of DC Comics' parallel universes where they are the evil counterparts of the Justice League. The original team was specifically known as the Crime Syndicate of America and is sometimes abbreviated as CSA. This first superpowered Crime Syndicate team appeared in ''Justice League of America'' #29 in August 1964. The primary successive incarnation, known as the Crime Syndicate of Amerika (with the variant spelling of America), first appeared in the 2000 ''JLA: Earth 2'' graphic novel. A related successive group on Earth-3 is known as the Crime Society of America and first appeared in ''52 (comics), 52'' #52, and was later featured in ''Countdown to Final Crisis''. Phil Winslade
Phil Winslade (born 1965) is a British comic book artist. Biography Winslade was born in Surrey in 1965 and spent a lot of time indoors as a child because of a heart murmur. His main source of entertainment were Marvel Comics, Marvel like ''Howard the Duck'' and ''Deathlok''. However, it wasn't until he attended UCE Birmingham, Birmingham Polytechnic, to study art, that the idea of working in the industry was rekindled.
