Cricket in Nepal has gained popularity over the years and has become the country's most popular and widely followed sport. It is played by many people throughout the country, especially in the Terai region. The biggest cricketing achievement of the national cricket team was when the team reached the qualification tournament of 2014 ICC World T20 held in Bangladesh. Nepal's playing season runs from September to November and starts again in March before finishing in May. Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, commonly known as TU Cricket Ground or simply TU Ground ( ne, त्रिभुवन विश्वविद्यालय अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय क्रिकेट मैदान) is a cricket ground in Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Nepal. History The first recorded match held on the ground came in 1998 when Bangladesh played Papua New Guinea in the 1998 ACC Trophy. Nepal took part in the inaugural Intercontinental Cup with the matches in the competition having first-class status. The ground held its first first-class match when Nepal hosted Malaysia. The Asian Cricket Council Women's Asia Cup or ACC Women's Asia Cup is a women's One Day International and Twenty20 International cricket tournament. It was established in 2004 and is a biennial tournament. The tournament is contested by cricket teams from Asia. The first Women's Asia Cup was held in 2004 on Colombo and Kandy in the Sri Lanka. The ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is an international cricket tournament organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) contested by national under-19 teams. World Cricket League
The ICC World Cricket League (WCL) was a series of international one-day cricket tournaments for national teams without Test status (i.e., teams of Associate status) administered by the International Cricket Council. All Associate Members of the ICC were eligible to compete in the league system, which featured a promotion and relegation structure between divisions. The league system had two main aims: to provide a qualification system for the Cricket World Cup that could be accessed by all Associate Members and as an opportunity for these sides to play international one-day matches against teams of similar standards. The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2 is an international cricket competition contested in the One Day International format and the second level of the three-league Cricket World Cup qualification system which was introduced in 2019. Seven teams participate and either directly advance to the World Cup Qualifier or advance to the World Cup Qualifier Play-off for another chance to enter the Qualifier. Two teams from the Qualifier qualify for the next Cricket World Cup. League 2 and the Qualifier Play-off replaced the ICC World Cricket League Championship and ICC World Cricket League Division Two for determining World Cup qualification.
