Cricket At The 2015 Pacific Games – Women's Tournament
A women's 20-over cricket tournament at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, was held from 6 to 11 July 2015. Played at Amini Park and the Colts Cricket Ground, it will be followed by the men's tournament at the same venues the following week. Six teams participated in the tournament, two more than in the men's version – at earlier editions of the Pacific Games (previously known as the South Pacific Games), no women's tournament was played. Samoa defeated Papua New Guinea by three runs in the final to win the gold medal, becoming only the second country (after Papua New Guinea) to win a Pacific Games gold medal in cricket. Fiji defeated Vanuatu in a play-off for the bronze medal. Pacific Games
The Pacific Games (French: Jeux du Pacifique), is a continental multi-sport event held every four years among athletes from Oceania. The inaugural Games took place in 1963 in Suva, Fiji, and most recently in 2019 in Apia, Samoa. The Games were called the South Pacific Games from 1963 to 2007. The Pacific Games Council (PGC) organises the Games and oversees the host city's preparations. Athletes with a disability are included as full members of their national teams. In each sporting event, gold medals are awarded for first place, silver medals are awarded for second place, and bronze medals are awarded for third place. Nine different cities in six countries and territories have hosted the Pacific Games. New Caledonia Women's National Cricket Team
The New Caledonia women's national cricket team represents the country of New Caledonia in women's cricket matches. In April 2018, the International Cricket Council (ICC) granted full Women's Twenty20 International (WT20I) status to all its members. Batting Average (cricket)
In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). The number is also simple to interpret intuitively. If all the batter's innings were completed (i.e. they were out every innings), this is the average number of runs they score per innings. The ''Vanuatu Daily Post'' is a newspaper published in Port Vila in Vanuatu. It is the only daily newspaper in Vanuatu. The newspaper's founder, Marc Neil-Jones, had been the victim of physical attacks supported by government ministers during his time at the newspaper. Work permit controversy Dan McGarry, the newspaper's media director and a Canadian national, announced on 7 November 2019 that the Vanuatu government had refused to renew his work permit. McGarry stated that the 'overt reason' was that his role should have been 'localized' (filled by a Vanuatu citizen) but claimed that the 'real reason' was that the Daily Post's reporting had discomforted the government. The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) is a sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. It was founded in 1838 and is one of the oldest sports clubs in Australia.
