Crazy For Love
''Crazy for Love'' (French: ''Le Trou normand'') is a 1952 French comedy film directed by Jean Boyer and starring Bourvil, Jane Marken and, in one of her first appearances, Brigitte Bardot.Lanzoni p.157 Location shooting took place around Conches-en-Ouche in Normandy. The film's sets were designed by the art director Robert Giordani. The film's French title is a reference to an aperitif of calvados drunk between meals, which also features as the name of the film's disputed tavern. Synopsis The naive, simpleton countrymen Hippolyte inherits his uncle's inn in Normandy on the condition that he gain his primary school certificate. However his aunt Augustine, who stands to inherit if he does not, sets out to thwart his attempts to do so. Calvados (, , ) is a brandy from Normandy in France, made from apples or pears, or from apples with pears. The first known record of Norman distillation was made by squire Gilles de Gouberville in 1553, and the guild for cider distillation was created about 50 years later in 1606. Jacques Deray (born Jacques Desrayaud; 19 February 1929 – 9 August 2003) was a French film director and screenwriter. Deray is prominently known for directing many crime and thriller films. Biography Born Jacques Desrayaud in Lyon, France, in 1929 to a family of Lyon industrialists. At the age of 19 he went to Paris to study drama under René Simon. Deray played minor roles on the stage and in films from the age of 19. From 1952, Deray worked as assistant to a number of directors, including Luis Buñuel, Gilles Grangier, Jules Dassin, and Jean Boyer. Deray's first film was the drama '' Le Gigolo'' released in 1960.
