Crash And Burn (Pat Travers Band Album)
''Crash And Burn'' is a music album released by the Pat Travers Band on Polydor Records in 1980. ''Crash And Burn'' was the Pat Travers Band's highest-charting release, peaking at number 20 on the ''Billboard'' album chart. The album featured the single " Snortin' Whiskey", co-written by Travers and fellow band member guitarist Pat Thrall. This song became a significant hit on American FM radio in 1980, reaching the number one position on playlists all over the country. The album's title track was also issued as a single, but wasn't as successful as " Snortin' Whiskey". The song "Crash And Burn" was a departure from Pat Travers' usual guitar-oriented material, and was basically a keyboard song driven by the band's rhythm section of Peter "Mars" Cowling on bass, and drummer Tommy Aldridge. Pat Travers
Patrick Henry Travers (born April 12, 1954) is a Canadian rock guitarist, keyboardist and singer who began his recording career in the mid-1970s. Early life Travers was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Soon after picking up the guitar at age 12, he saw Jimi Hendrix perform in Ottawa. Travers began playing in bands early in his teens; his first bands were the Music Machine (not to be confused with the Californian psychedelic/garage band of the same name), Red Hot, and Merge, which played in clubs in the Quebec area. While performing with Merge, he was noticed by rock artist Ronnie Hawkins, who invited Travers to perform with him. In his early twenties, Travers moved to London and signed a recording contract with the Polydor label. His self-titled debut album was released in 1976 and featured bassist Peter "Mars" Cowling, who would become a mainstay in Travers' band for several years. Gregory Calbi (born April 3, 1949) is an American mastering engineer at Sterling Sound, New Jersey. Biography Greg Calbi was born on April 3, 1949, in Yonkers, New York, and raised in Bayside, Queens, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows. Calbi earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at Fordham University where he studied with Marshall McLuhan and his staff for 3 of those years. Michael Shrieve (born July 6, 1949) is an American drummer, percussionist, and composer. He is best known as the drummer of the rock band Santana, playing on the band's first seven albums from 1969 to 1974. At age 20, Shrieve was the second youngest musician to perform at Woodstock. His drum solo during " Soul Sacrifice" in the ''Woodstock'' film has been described as "electrifying", although he considers his drum solo during "Soul Sacrifice" in 1970 at Tanglewood as being better. William Bell (Birth name, ''né'' Yarbrough; born July 16, 1939) is an American soul music, soul singer and songwriter. Coconut Grove, also known colloquially as The Grove, is the oldest continuously inhabited neighborhood of Miami in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
