Alexander Craighead
Alexander Craighead (1705–1766) was a Scots-Irish American preacher. Biography Early life Alexander Craighead was born in Donegal, Ulster, Ireland on March 18, 1707. He emigrated to North America with his father, the Reverend Thomas Craighead. He died March 1766 in Rocky Creek, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. He was the youngest son of Rev. Thomas Craighead and Margaret Holmes. He was the brother to John Craighead. Their mother was Margaret Holmes who was born in Scotland. She came with her husband and four of their five children from County Londonderry to America settling first in Massachusetts. Brander Craighead (born September 8, 1990) is a former Canadian football offensive lineman who played two seasons for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders in the first round of the 2013 CFL Draft. Craighead played college football at the University of Texas at El Paso and attended Mother Teresa High School in Nepean, Ontario. David Craighead (organist)
David Craighead (January 24, 1924 – March 26, 2012) was a noted American organist. Craighead was born in Strasburg, Pennsylvania. He studied with Alexander McCurdy at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, receiving a Bachelor of Music degree in 1946. While at Curtis he met his future wife Marian Reiff, also a pupil of McCurdy. They married in 1948. From 1955 until his retirement in the summer of 1992 he was both Professor of Organ and Chair of the Organ Division of the Keyboard Department at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Craighead was also organist of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Rochester, a position he held for 48 years. In June 1968, Craighead received an honorary Doctor of Music degree from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. Charles W. Engelhard Jr. (February 15, 1917 – March 2, 1971) was an American businessman, a major owner in Thoroughbred horse racing, and a candidate in the 1955 New Jersey State Senate Elections. He controlled an international mining and metals conglomerate, Engelhard, founded by his father. John Craighead (born November 23, 1971) is a retired professional ice hockey right winger. He played five games for the Toronto Maple Leafs during 1996–97 season. Frank Cooper Craighead Jr. (August 14, 1916 – October 21, 2001) and John Johnson Craighead (August 14, 1916 – September 18, 2016), twin brothers, were American Conservation movement, conservationists, naturalists, and researchers who made important contributions to the studies of falconry and grizzly bear biology. The brothers were born in Washington, D.C. where both graduated from Western High School in 1935.
