Covering (martial Arts)
Covering in martial arts is the act of protecting against an opponent's strikes by using the arms and shoulders to block and absorb the impact of strikes on the head and torso and prevent injury. Covering is the last line of defense to avoid an incoming strike and consists of putting arms and forearms up and in front of the area on the body that is being blocked. The technique of covering is widely used among martial arts and has a multitude of variations. Usage Covering is used as a defensive technique and can function on three levels of execution. The first level is for ''Physical Defense'' and is used to absorb an opponents attacks, without the use of counter-attacks or evasive maneuvers. ''The Covering'' is the thirteenth release and eighth studio album by American Christian heavy metal/hard rock band Stryper, released by Big 3 Records/Sony on February 15, 2011. The album is a collection of twelve cover songs from bands that inspired Stryper and helped to shape the band's sound and musical identity. The album also includes "God", a new original recording. History The album was originally scheduled to be released on October 13, 2010. On October 22, 2010, it was announced on the band's official site that due to the feeling of the business and label team that more set-up time will allow for a stronger release, the album was projected to be released in the first quarter of 2011. In baseball, part of the infielders' and pitcher's jobs is to cover bases. That is, they stand next to a base in anticipation of receiving the ball thrown from another fielder, so that they may make a play on an opposing baserunner who is approaching that base. On a force play, the fielder covering the base stands with one foot on that base. In general, the first baseman covers first base, the second baseman or shortstop covers second, the third baseman covers third, and the catcher covers home plate. However, on ground balls hit to the first baseman away from first base, the pitcher will cover first base instead. On a ground ball to either the shortstop or the second baseman, the other of those will cover second base. Covering sickness, or dourine (French, from the Arabic ''darina'', meaning mangy (said of a female camel), feminine of ''darin'', meaning dirty), is a disease of horses and other members of the family Equidae. The disease is caused by ''Trypanosoma equiperdum'', which belongs to an important genus of parasitic protozoa. The occurrence of dourine is notifiable in the European Union under legislation from the OIE. There currently is no vaccine and although clinical signs can be treated, there is no cure. Parasite Out of the ''Trypanosoma'' genus, ''Trypanosoma equiperdum'' has been discovered to be most closely linked to ''Trypanosoma evansi'', so much so that even observation under microscope is not sufficient to differentiate between the two as their structure is very similar.
