County Governor Of Vest-Agder
The county governor of Vest-Agder county in Norway represented the central government administration in the county. The office of county governor is a government agency of the Kingdom of Norway; the title was (before 1919) and then (after 1919). On 1 January 2016, the office was merged with the county governor of Aust-Agder into the county governor of Aust- og Vest-Agder in preparation for the merger of the two counties on 1 January 2020. The diocesan county called '' Stavanger stiftamt'' was established in 1669 by the king and it had several subordinate counties (amt) including ''Agdesiden amt''. In 1671, ''Agdesiden amt'' was divided into Lister og Mandals amt (later called Vest-Agder) and Nedenæs amt (later called Aust-Agder). In 1682, the ''Stavanger stiftamt'' headquarters was moved to the town of Christianssand and renamed ''Christianssand stiftamt''. The seat of ''Lister og Mandals amt'' was also at Christianssand. County Governor (Norway)
The county governor ( nb, statsforvalteren; nn, statsforvaltaren, lit. ''state administrator'' in English) is a Norwegian government agency that represents the central government administration in every county in Norway. Responsible for a number of supervision and management duties, the governor is the representative of the king and the government of Norway in each county, functioning as the connection between the state and the municipalities. The county governor is subordinate to the Ministry of Local Government and Modernisation but also to the other ministries in their respective duties. The governor is part of the executive branch and so is formally appointed by the king in a cabinet meeting. The main responsibilities of the governor include controlling and being an instance of appeal for municipal decisions and the main instance for exercising state regulation of agriculture and local environmental impact. Christian Stockfleth
Christian Stockfleth (1639–31 March 1704) was a Norwegian civil servant and diplomat. He was born in Christiania, Norway, a son of bishop Henning Stockfleth, and a nephew of civil servant Hans Stockfleth. Stockfleth studied at the University of Copenhagen, and further in other European cities. He assumed various central positions with the Danish rule in Norway. Oluf Borch De Schouboe
Oluf Borch de Schouboe (5 June 1777 – 21 December 1844) was the Norwegian civil servant and government official. Schouboe was born in Bergen, Norway. As the son of Councillor of State Christian de Schouboe (1737-1789) and Anna Magdalena Müller (1751-1785), he belonged to the Norwegian aristocracy. He is the brother of Ulrik Fredrik Anton de Schouboe. He completed his legal examination at the University of Copenhagen in 1801. He then served as magistrate at Nykøbing Falster and Elsinore. In 1810, he was appointed Governor of Stavanger Amt, a post held until 1812 when he was promoted and appointed to be the Diocesan Governor of Christianssand Stiftamt. Ulrik Frederik Anton De Schouboe
Ulrik Frederik Anton de Schouboe (1782–1863) was a Norwegian civil servant and politician. He served as the County Governor of Stavanger, Lister og Mandal, and Nedenes counties during his career. Schouboe was the son of the Governor Christian de Schouboe and Anna Magdalene Müller, and he was also the brother of Oluf Borch de Schouboe. Hans Vilhelm Cederfeld De Simonsen
Hans Vilhelm Cederfeld de Simonsen (1777–1836) was a Danish landowner and government official. He served as the Diocesan Governor and County Governor of several different counties in Denmark and Norway. His father was Lorentz Christian Ernst Cederfeld de Simonsen, who in 1776 had married Anne Sophie Simonsen and thereby fulfilled the condition to take possession of the Erholm Manor on the island of Funen. Peter Holm (politician)
Peter Holm (1733–1817) was a government official and topographical writer in Denmark-Norway. He served as a County Governor (Norway), County Governor for three different counties in Norway. He was the County Governor of Nordland county from 1767–1771, of Telemark, Bratsberg county from 1771–1773, and of Vest-Agder, Lister og Mandal county from 1773 until his retirement on 31 December 1805. After Treaty of Kiel#Impact, the union between Denmark and Norway ended in 1814. Holm did not return to his birth country of Denmark, but stayed in Norway, and died in Christiansand in 1817. Frederik Georg Adeler
Frederik Georg Adeler (1736-1810) was a Danish-Norwegian county official and landowner. He was the son of Frederik Adeler, as well as great-grandchild of Admiral Cort Adeler. Frederik Georg Adeler inherited and lived on the large estate at the Gimsøy Abbey with a manor house and headquarters at Klosterøya in Skien. He served as the County Governor and Diocesan Governor in various counties from 1764 until 1788. Adeler served in the military from 1755 until 1764, reaching the rank of Major. After leaving the military, he was appointed county governor of Bratsberg on 30 July 1764, when he was 28 years old. On 20 February 1771, he was transferred against his will to be the county governor of Lister og Mandal county, because "his right of first refusal for timber, as owner of Gimsø, came into conflict with his office" in Bratsberg. Magnus Theiste
Magnus Theiste (1725 – 25 November 1791) was a Norwegian government official. He served as the County Governor (Norway), County Governor of Vest-Agder, Lister og Mandal county from 1768 to 1771 and of Sogn og Fjordane, Nordre Bergenhus county from 1771 to 1779. He was the son of Jacob Monsen Theiste, a timber trader from Oslo, Christiania and his second wife, Anna Beata Sørensdatter (née Løchstør). He was born in Christiania in 1725.
