Council Of State (Nigeria)
The National Council of States is an organ of the Nigerian Government. Its functions include advising the executive on policy making. The Council has no executive power, however plays an important advice and consent role in government operations. History In the First Nigerian Republict, here was no National Council of State as the Premiers occasionally they met with the Prime Minister of Nigeria, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa. Coat Of Arms Of Nigeria
The coat of arms of Nigeria consists of a black shield with a wavy white Pall (heraldry), pall, symbolizing the meeting of the Niger River, Niger and Benue Rivers at Lokoja. The Shield (heraldry), black shield represents Nigeria's fertile soil, while the two supporters, supporting horses or chargers on each side represent dignity. The eagle represents strength, while the green and white twists of the torse on the top of the shield represent the rich soil. The red flowers at the base are ''Costus spectabilis'', Nigeria's national flower. This flower was chosen for inclusion in the coat of arms as it is found all over Nigeria and also stand for the beauty of the nation. Sani Bello
Sani Bello (born 27 November 1942) is a Nigerian statesman and military administrator who served as Governor of Kano State from 1975 to 1978. After his retirement, he amassed an enormous fortune through investments in oil, telecommunications and electricity; going on to establish the Sani Bello Foundation. Early life Sani Bello was born on 27 November 1942 in Kontagora, the only child of Bello Mustapha and Hajiya Abu. He received Islamic education, and attended Central Primary School, Kotangora from 1950 to 1957. Zamani Lekwot (born 19 July 1944) in Jankasa, is a retired Nigerian Army major general who served as the military governor of Rivers State, Nigeria from July 1975 to July 1978 during the military administration of Generals Murtala Muhammed and Olusegun Obasanjo. Lekwot is an Atyap, born in Kaduna State in 1944. Umaru Mohammed
Umaru Mohammed was appointed Governor of North-Western State in Nigeria in July 1975 at the start of the military regime of General Murtala Mohammed. In February 1976 North-Western State was split into Niger State and Sokoto State. Umaru Mohammed continued as Governor of Sokoto State until July 1978. Abdullahi Mohammed is a retired Nigerian Army major general, who served as chief of staff to presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar'Adua from 1999 to 2008; National Security Adviser to General Abdusalami Abubakar from 1998 to 1999; Director General of the National Security Organization from 1976 to 1979; and Governor of Benue-Plateau State, Nigeria from July 1975 to February 1976 during the military regime of General Murtala Mohammed. Usman Jibrin
Usman Jibrin (1942 – 8 September 2011) was a Nigerian politician who was the Military Governor of North Central State from July 1975 to 1977 during the military regime of General Murtala Mohammed. Background Jibrin was born in 1942 in Nasarawa local government of Nasarawa State. He attended Abuja Middle School and Government College Kaduna in the early 1960s. He started work at Radio Television, Kaduna. Jibrin joined the Nigerian Air Force in 1963, retiring in 1978. He received training in Canada as a pilot and an instructor, followed by training and conversion courses in Germany on jet fighters. He was also trained in the Soviet Union as a fighter pilot and instructor, and received staff training in the United Kingdom. Anthony Ochefu
Colonel Anthony Aboki Ochefu was a Military Governor of East Central State from July 1975 to February 1976 during the military regime of General Murtala Mohammed. Military background During the Nigerian Civil War of 1967–70, Ochefu commanded a battalion tasked with clearing Biafran troops from the riverain areas of the Midwest, taking Koko, Sapele, and Warri, before exploiting northwards to link up with Lt. Col. Murtala Muhammed's 2nd Division. His battalion was then used as a spearhead in the seaborne landing and capture of Calabar. He was provost-marshal in 1975 when he was one of the leaders of the coup that overthrew General Yakubu Gowon on 29 July 1975. Chief Akintunde Aduwo (born 12 June 1938) is a retired Nigerian Navy Vice Admiral who served as Chief of Naval Staff from 1980 to 1983 and as military governor of the Nigerian Western State from July 1975 to August 1975 during the military regime of General Murtala Muhammed.
