Costa Do Sol State Park
The Costa do Sol State Park ( pt, Parque Estadual da Costa do Sol , Sunshine Coast State Park) is a state park in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It protects a number of fragments of coastal areas in the Atlantic Forest biome that are under intense pressure from urban expansion, but that also have considerable tourism potential. Location The Costa do Sol State Park has about divided into four sectors, each consisting of one or more separate areas. It covers lands in the municipalities of Araruama, Armação dos Búzios, Arraial do Cabo, Cabo Frio, Saquarema and São Pedro da Aldeia as well as parts of the Atlantic Ocean and the Araruama Lagoon in the state Rio de Janeiro. The Costa do Sol State Park is the first mosaic park in Brazil, made up of discontinuous protected areas. In all there are 27 environmental preservation areas. Cabo Frio
Cabo Frio (, ''Cold Cape'') is a tourist destination located in the state of Rio de Janeiro state. It was founded by the Portuguese on November 13, 1615. The Brazilian coast runs east from Rio de Janeiro to Cabo Frio where it turns sharply north. North of Cabo Frio is Cabo de São Tomé. Mangrove
A mangrove is a shrub or tree that grows in coastal saline water, saline or brackish water. The term is also used for tropical coastal vegetation consisting of such species. Mangroves are taxonomically diverse, as a result of convergent evolution in several plant families. They occur worldwide in the tropics and subtropics and even some temperate coastal areas, mainly between latitudes 30° N and 30° S, with the greatest mangrove area within 5° of the equator. Mangrove plant families first appeared during the Late Cretaceous to Paleocene epochs, and became widely distributed in part due to the plate tectonics, movement of tectonic plates. Restinga
Restingas () are a distinct type of coastal tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest in eastern Brazil. They form on sandy, acidic, and nutrient-poor soils, and are characterized by medium-sized trees and shrubs adapted to the drier and nutrient-poor conditions. One of the most notable restingas is the Restinga da Marambaia (in Rio de Janeiro), which is owned and kept by the Brazilian Army. Carlos Minc Baumfeld (born July 12, 1951) is a Brazilian geographer, professor, environmentalist, politician and Minister of Environment in Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's second term as president of Brazil. Personal life Minc was born on July 12, 1951. He studied at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro. He was a student leader and participated in resistance against the military dictatorship.
