The Cornell–Princeton lacrosse rivalry is a college lacrosse rivalry between Princeton University and Cornell University and their respective men's lacrosse teams, Princeton Tigers and Cornell Big Red. The rivalry stems from the dominance of the two programs in the Ivy League where in the first 65 seasons (1956 through 2022 seasons, excluding pandemic canceled years of 2020 and 2021) Cornell has won 30 Ivy League Championships (18 outright, 12 shared) and Princeton has won 27 league titles (18 outright, 9 shared). The next nearest team is Brown with 11 titles (five outright, six shared) The Ivy League awards the league championship to the team with the best record at the conclusion of the regular season. The Cornell Big Red men's lacrosse team represents Cornell University in NCAA Division I men's lacrosse. History As a member of the Ivy League, Cornell has won 30 conference championships (18 outright, 12 shared), more than any other school (Princeton has won 27 – 18 outright, 9 shared). The Ivy League awards the conference championship to the team with the best record at the conclusion of the regular season. If two or more teams are tied with the same record the championship is shared. The team was undefeated and untied in league play during 17 of their 18 outright championships, the most of any Ivy team. 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship
The 2010 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship was the 40th annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national championship for National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college lacrosse. Sixteen teams were selected to compete in the tournament based upon their performance during the regular season, and for some, a conference tournament. The championship game took place on May 31, Memorial Day, between the Duke Blue Devils and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, with the latter making their first appearance in the NCAA final. Duke won in overtime, 6–5, to capture their first men's lacrosse championship in school history. The 2013 Ivy League men's lacrosse tournament took place May 3 to May 5 at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, New York. The winner of the tournament received the Ivy League 's automatic bid to the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship. The Tewaaraton Award is an annual award for the most outstanding American college lacrosse men's and women's players, since 2001. It is the lacrosse equivalent of football's Heisman Trophy. The award is presented by The Tewaaraton Foundation and the University Club of Washington, D.C. Lacrosse is the oldest sport played in North America and the award honors the Native American heritage of lacrosse in the name of its award, "Tewaaraton," the Mohawk name for their game and the progenitor of present-day lacrosse.
