Corky Of Gasoline Alley
''Corky of Gasoline Alley'' is a 1951 American comedy film directed by Edward Bernds and starring Scotty Beckett, Jimmy Lydon, and Susan Morrow.Dick p.260 It is a sequel to ''Gasoline Alley''. Plot Elwood Martin (Gordon Jones), a brash extrovert with an aversion to work, come to live with Walt Wallet (Don Beddoe) and his wife, Phyllis (Madelon Baker). He blunders about their house, and the diner owned by Corky Wallet (Scotty Beckett) and the fix-it shop belonging to Skeezix Wallet (Jimmy Lydon), creating havoc at every stop. Corky and his kid sister, Judy Wallet (Patti Brady) decide the only way to save the Wallet family from bankruptcy and insanity is to persuade the free-loading Elwood to move on. The latter then fakes an injured back. Edward Bernds
Edward Bernds (July 12, 1905May 20, 2000) was an American screenwriter and director, born in Chicago, Illinois. Career While in his junior year in Lake View High School, he and several friends formed a small radio clique and obtained amateur licenses. In the early 1920s, there was considerable prestige for amateur operators to have commercial radio licenses, and Bernds was in a good position to enter broadcasting when he graduated in 1923, a year when radio stations began to be established all over Chicago. He found employment — at age 20 — as chief operator at Chicago's WENR. When talking pictures began in the late 1920s, Bernds and broadcast operators like him relocated to Hollywood to work as sound technicians in "the talkies". After a brief period at United Artists, Bernds resigned and worked at Columbia Pictures, where he functioned as sound engineer on many of Frank Capra's classics in the 1930s. Kay Christopher
Kay Christopher (June 3, 1926 – June 18, 2012) was an American actress and model. Early life and career Christopher was born into a middle-class family. Her father was a newspaper editor and her mother a librarian. She was educated at New Rochelle High School from which she graduated in 1944. Christopher was raised as a Methodist. She began her career as a pin-up model, and was so successful that she received the title of "Miss Photo Flash 1945". John Dehner
John Dehner (DAY-ner) (born John Dehner Forkum, also credited Dehner Forkum; November 23, 1915February 4, 1992) was an American stage, radio, film, and television actor. From the late 1930s to the late 1980s, he amassed a long list of performance credits, often in roles as sophisticated con men, shady authority figures, and other smooth-talking villains. His credits just in feature films, televised series, and in made-for-TV movies number almost 300 productions. Dehner worked extensively as an actor radio during the latter half of that medium's "golden age", accumulating hundreds of additional credits on nationally broadcast series. Ludwig Stössel (12 February 1883 – 29 January 1973) was an actor born in Lockenhaus, now Austria, then Hungary. He was one of many Jewish actors and actresses who were forced to flee Germany when the Nazis came to power in 1933. Biography Stössel began performing on the stage in Austria and Germany when he was only 17. He soon became a successful character actor and performed on the most prestigious stages in Germany, among them the Max Reinhardt, the stage and the in Berlin. Stössel later became a movie actor. Richard Michael Wessel (April 20, 1913 – April 20, 1965) was an American film actor who appeared in more than 270 films between 1935 and 1966. He is best remembered for his only leading role, a chilling portrayal of strangler Harry "Cueball" Lake in ''Dick Tracy vs. Cueball'' (1946), and for his appearances as comic villains opposite The Three Stooges.
