The ''Fidonisy'' class, also known as the ''Kerch'' class, were a group of eight destroyers built for the Black Sea Fleet of the Imperial Russian Navy during World War I. They participated in World War I, the Russian Civil War, and World War II. ''Avrasya'' is a Ro-Ro ferry that was hijacked in the Black Sea hostage crisis of 1996. Originally built in 1953 as the passenger ship ''Lazio'', she was converted to a Ro-Ro ferry in 1967. In 1979, she was sold to Greece and renamed ''Sant Andrea''. A sale in 1984 saw her renamed ''Makedonia'', followed by a chartering in 1985 which saw her renamed ''Summer Star''. Zubr-class LCAC
The Zubr class, Soviet designation Project 1232.2, (NATO reporting name "Pomornik") is a class of Soviet-designed air-cushioned landing craft (LCAC). The name "Żubr" is Polish for the European bison. This class of military hovercraft is, , the world's largest, with a standard full load displacement of 555 tons. The hovercraft was designed to sealift amphibious assault units (such as marines and tanks) from equipped/non-equipped vessels to non-equipped shores, as well as to transport and plant naval mines. Ten Zubr-class hovercraft remain in service. There are two vessels in the Russian Navy and four with the Hellenic Navy. BYMS-class Minesweeper
The BYMS class was a class of wooden motor minesweepers, part of the United States Navy YMS-1 class minesweepers. One hundred fifty ships destined for the United Kingdom were launched from 1941 to 1943. Ships The initial 80 ships were ordered by the U.S. Navy specifically for transfer to the United Kingdom under the Lend-Lease Programme. On transfer to Britain, BYMS-1 through BYMS-80 were assigned the British pennant numbers BYMS-2001 through BYMS-2080. Names were not assigned to the class members. A further 53 BYMS vessels bore hull numbers from 137 to 284. These were originally built for the U.S. Navy as part of the YMS-1 class and transferred to Britain on, or shortly after, completion. Haim Corfu ( he, חיים קורפו‎; 6 January 1921 – 23 February 2015) was an Israeli politician, and earlier Irgun member and assassin. Biography Corfu was born in Jerusalem in 1921. He studied in religious schools and yeshivas and attended a religious teachers seminary. In 1937 he joined the Irgun and was a member of the Irgun command in Jerusalem. During that time he also played as a striker for Beitar Jerusalem. He used his training as an electrician to design explosives. He was responsible for the assassinations of CID officers Ralph Cairns and Ronald Barker. Corfu, observing the two while hiding behind a stonemason's shack, pressed the detonator of the remotely-controlled mine that killed them. Korčula ( it, Curzola) is a town on the east coast of the island of Korčula, in Croatia, in the Adriatic.
