Convention Center Station (Detroit)
Huntington Place station is a Detroit People Mover station in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It is located inside the Huntington Place convention center, formerly known as Cobo Center and later as TCF Center, on the third floor near Congress Street. The track was originally built out in the open, and later enclosed by Cobo Center's late 1980s expansion. The station opened as an infill station in 1989, as the last of the system's thirteen stations to open. The track passes above the main convention hall, and as such, passing trains can be heard from portions of the convention floor. Originally known as Cobo Center, the station was renamed Convention Center in 2019, when Cobo Center itself was renamed TCF Center. The station was renamed again as Huntington Place upon its reopening in May 2022, following the convention center's renaming as Huntington Place. Huntington Place (formerly known as Cobo Hall, Cobo Center, and briefly as TCF Center) is a convention center in Downtown Detroit, owned by the Detroit Regional Convention Facility Authority (DRCFA) and operated by ASM Global. Located at 1 Washington Boulevard, the facility was originally named after former Mayor of Detroit Albert Cobo. The largest annual event held at Huntington Place is the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), which has been held at the center since 1965. West Riverfront Station
West Riverfront station (formerly Joe Louis Arena) is a Detroit People Mover station in downtown Detroit, Michigan. It is located on Steve Yzerman Drive across from the former site of the Joe Louis Arena, near the intersection of 3rd Street and Jefferson Avenue, where M-10 terminates. Prior to the Joe Louis Arena's closure in 2017, the station was directly connected to the arena and its parking garage via pedestrian bridges from the concourse level. The bridge to the arena was demolished with the arena, and the bridge to the now-disused garage is closed, though the Detroit City Council plans to reopen the garage in the future. The station is still connected to the Riverfront Towers by an enclosed skybridge. It is the nearest station to the Downtown campus of the Wayne County Community College District, and also serves the Detroit Riverwalk via its street entrance, accessible by an elevator or a series of concrete ramps. Transportation in metropolitan Detroit is provided by a system of transit services, airports, and an advanced network of freeways which interconnect the city of Detroit and the Detroit region. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) administers the region's network of major roads and freeways. The region offers mass transit with bus services provided jointly by the Detroit Department of Transportation (DDOT) and the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) through a cooperative service and fare agreement administered by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA). Metromover is a free mass transit automated people mover train system operated by Miami-Dade Transit in Miami, Florida, United States. Metromover serves the Downtown Miami, Brickell, Park West and Arts & Entertainment District neighborhoods. Metromover connects directly with Metrorail at Government Center and Brickell stations. It also connects to Metrobus with dedicated bus loops at Government Center and Adrienne Arsht Center station. It originally began service to the Downtown/Inner Loop on April 17, 1986, and was later expanded with the Omni and Brickell Loop extensions on May 26, 1994.
