Conor O'Brien (rugby Union)
Conor O'Brien (born 2 February 1996) is an Irish former rugby union player who played for Leinster. GAA and family Growing up in Westmeath, O'Brien played more Gaelic sports than rugby union until well into his teens. He represented Westmeath at hurling up to under-16 level, and represented Westmeath in Gaelic football all the way to Minor level. His father Garrett was captain of the Offaly team which won the 1988 All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship, the only such victory in the county's history. Conor got into rugby by playing youths rugby for Mullingar RFC. Early rugby career Conor took up rugby as an 11 year with Mullingar RFC, he tried out many positions including back-row before finally settling at out-half. Conor was part of the successful Midlands team that won the Shane Horgan Cup in 2012, in the same season he also played out-half in the Mullingar U17 team that won the Culliton Cup scoring two tries in the final against Navan. Mullingar
Mullingar ( ; ) is the county town of County Westmeath in Ireland. It is the third most populous town in the Midland Region, with a population of 20,928 in the 2016 census. The Counties of Meath and Westmeath Act 1543 proclaimed Westmeath a county, separating it from Meath. Mullingar became the administrative centre for County Westmeath. The town was originally named ''Maelblatha'', and takes its modern name from a mill noted in the legend of Colman of Mullingar. Traditionally a market town serving the large agricultural hinterland, Mullingar remains a significant commercial location. The All-Ireland League (AIL), known for sponsorship reasons as the Energia All-Ireland League, is the national league system for the 50 senior rugby union clubs in Ireland, covering both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The league was inaugurated in the 1990–91 season. The league is the second highest level of rugby union in Ireland, as professional teams representing the four provinces of Ireland play in the United Rugby Championship. Division 1 sides may field no more than two professional players in their matchday sides, and only one may be a forward. Division 2 sides may not field professional players. The New Zealand Under 20's Rugby Team are the representative Rugby Union team from New Zealand. They replace the two former age grade teams Under 19s and Under 21s. Their first tournament was the 2008 IRB Junior World Championship, which they won after defeating England 38–3 in the final. They have gone on to also win the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2015 and 2017 World Rugby Under 20's Championship. The team also competes in the Oceania U20 Championship as of 2015. The 2016 World Rugby Under 20 Championship was the ninth annual international rugby union competition for Under 20 national teams. The event was organised in England by rugby's governing body, World Rugby. Twelve nations took part in the tournament, which was held at two venues in Greater Manchester—AJ Bell Stadium in Salford and Manchester City Academy Stadium in Manchester.
