Congolese people in Italy consist of migrants from Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo and their descendants living and working in Italy. The presence of Congoleses in Italy dates back to the 1980s. Numbers In 2014 in Italy there are 7,066 regular immigrants from Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo. In 2018 there are estimated to be 11,000 Congolese people, mainly from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In 2006 there were 6,167. Padua
Padua ( ; it, Padova ; vec, Pàdova) is a city and ''comune'' in Veneto, northern Italy. Padua is on the river Bacchiglione, west of Venice. It is the capital of the province of Padua. Congolese Australians are a people who were either born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or the Republic of the Congo, or are of Congolese heritage, who have since settled in Australia. The Congolese Australian population has seen a marked increase since the end of the 20th century, growing from 21 individuals in 1996, to 5,522 by the 2016 Census. The influx of Congolese immigrants in the 1990s were initially the result of the First Congo War, a civil war in the country of Zaire (present-day Democratic Republic of the Congo), as well as the effects of the Rwandan genocide on the eastern border of the country, which created rebel militia groups, completely destabilizing state authority at the time. Congolese Americans are Americans descended from the peoples of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the Republic of the Congo, which themselves include a large variety of ethnic groups. In the 2000 US Census, 3,886 people of Congolese descent were reported. Another 1,602 specified that they were descended from people from Zaire and less than 300 people indicated that they hailed from the Republic of Congo. Rose Mapendo, who suffered as a result of the war, has helped 2,000 refugees to emigrate into the United States through the organization Mapendo International. Congolese in the United Kingdom consist of immigrants from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) living in the United Kingdom as well as their British-born descendants. The demonym Congolese can also refer to people from the Republic of Congo, of whom there are fewer living in the UK. According to the 2001 UK census 8,569 DRC-born people were residing in the UK. In the 2011 census, 18,913 people born in the DRC were recorded as resident in England, 280 in Wales, 298 in Scotland and 19 in Northern Ireland.
