Confession (radio Program)
''Confession'' is an American old-time radio crime drama anthology series. It was broadcast on NBC from July 5, 1953, to September 13, 1953, as a summer replacement for '' Dragnet''. Format ''Confession'' dramatized material from files of corrections departments from across the United States. Radio historian John Dunning compared ''Confession'' to ''Dragnet'', writing, "''Confession'' had a texture and sound not unlike ''Dragnet''; indeed, the ''Dragnet'' influence was evident throughout." Although both programs featured crimes taken from real life, he added, "''Dragnet'' began with the crime while ''Confession'' unfolded in reverse order." Paul Frees
Solomon Hersh "Paul" Frees (June 22, 1920November 2, 1986) was an American actor, comedian, impressionist, and vaudevillian. He is known for his work on Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Walter Lantz, Rankin/Bass, and Walt Disney theatrical cartoons during the Golden Age of Animation and for providing the voice of Boris Badenov in ''The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show''. Voice actor Mel Blanc said Frees was known as "The Man of a Thousand Voices", though the appellation was bestowed on Blanc himself. Stacy Harris
Stacy Harris (July 26, 1918 – March 13, 1973) was an American actor with hundreds of film and television appearances. His name is sometimes found misspelled Stacey Harris. Early years Harris was an Army pilot whose leg was injured in a plane crash less than six months after he enlisted in 1937. That injury prevented him from re-enlisting when World War II began, but he served with the American Field Service as an ambulance driver and with the French Foreign Legion as a dispatch rider. Before becoming an actor, he held a variety of jobs, including newspaper reporter, boxer, sailor, and artist. Theatre Harris acted in five Broadway plays and received a New York Critics Award. Radio Harris was known for his role as agent Jim Taylor on ABC Radio's '' This is Your FBI''. Bernard Philip Ofner (October 20, 1913 – August 17, 1982), better known by his stage name Barney Phillips, was an American film, television, and radio actor. Jack Moyles (June 26, 1913 – January 16, 1973) was an American actor best known for starring as cafe owner/amateur detective Rocky Jordan in the CBS radio serials ''A Man Named Jordan'' and ''The Adventures of Rocky Jordan''. Early years During his years in high school in San Francisco, California, Moyles played football, baseball, and tennis and sang in the school's glee club. Marvin Elliott Miller (born Marvin Mueller; July 18, 1913 – February 8, 1985) was an American actor. Possessing a deep baritone voice, he began his career in radio in St. Louis, Missouri before becoming a Hollywood actor. He is remembered for voicing Robby the Robot in the science fiction film ''Forbidden Planet'' (1956), a role he reprised in the lesser-known ''The Invisible Boy'' (1957). Peter Leeds (May 30, 1917 – November 12, 1996) was an American actor who appeared on television more than 8,000 times and also had many film, Broadway, and radio credits. Jonathan Hole (August 13, 1904 – February 11, 1998) was an American actor whose entertainment career covered five genres over 50 years. From his early days on the vaudeville stage and in legitimate theater, through radio, television and feature-length films that took his career up to the 1990s, Hole created a variety of characters in hundreds of roles. The Golden Age of Radio, also known as the old-time radio (OTR) era, was an era of radio in the United States where it was the dominant electronic home entertainment medium. It began with the birth of commercial radio broadcasting in the early 1920s and lasted through the 1950s, when television gradually superseded radio as the medium of choice for scripted programming, variety and dramatic shows. Radio was the first broadcast medium, and during this period people regularly tuned in to their favorite radio programs, and families gathered to listen to the home radio in the evening.
