The Confederation of European Business, shortened BusinessEurope, is a lobby group representing enterprises of all sizes in the European Union (EU) and seven non-EU European countries. Members of the confederation are 40 national industry and employers' organizations. The current president of the confederation is Fredrik Persson, while the Director General is Markus J. Beyrer. Based in Brussels, the confederation is officially recognised as a social partner at European level, is involved in a range of economic and social decisions and cooperates with a number of stakeholders and business partners. Gerardo Díaz Ferrán (Madrid, 1942) is a Spanish Businessman. He was co-owner with Gonzalo Pascual of Grupo Marsans that was sold in June 2010. He was from 2007 until 2010 president of CEOE, the Spanish business community. After the bankruptcy of all his companies, on November 29, 2010, the Madrid Business court number 5, filed the personal Chapter 11 Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code (Title 11 of the United States Code) permits reorganization under the bankruptcy laws of the United States. Joan Rosell Lastortras is the president of the Spanish employers confederation (CEOE). He replaced Gerardo Diaz Ferran in June 2011. Prior to being elected to this post he was the president of the Catalan national employers federation ( Foment del Treball Nacional) for 16 years. During his career he was president of the following companies; Congost, Enher, Fuerzas Eléctricas de Cataluña and OMB, Sistemas de Higiene Urbana. Early life After initially working as a journalist in Diario de Barcelona and Telexpres he studied civil engineering and graduated from the Universidad Politecnica de Cataluña.
