Compton, Missouri
Compton is a historic community in western Webster County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The post office was located at different locations in the area. One site was located along the bank of the James River along Missouri Route B, but a second location is approximately three-quarters of a mile to the southeast above Compton Branch (a tributary of the James). This second location is within or adjacent to the Compton Hollow Conservation Area and about three miles south of Northview. Webster County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2010 census, the population was 36,202. Its county seat is Marshfield. The county was organized in 1855 and named for U.S. Senator and U.S. Secretary of State Daniel Webster. Webster County is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Webster County was organized on March 3, 1855, and encompasses some of the highest extensive upland area of Missouri's Ozarks. Northview is an unincorporated community in Webster County, Missouri, United States. It is located southwest of Marshfield on Missouri Supplemental Route B, south of Interstate 44. Northview is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Northview was originally called "Bunker Hill", and was platted under that name in 1870. A stratotype or type section in geology is the physical location or outcrop of a particular reference exposure of a stratigraphic sequence or stratigraphic boundary. If the stratigraphic unit is layered, it is called a stratotype, whereas the standard of reference for unlayered rocks is the type locality.
