Communist Party Of The Turkmen SSR
The Communist Party of Turkmenistan (russian: Коммунистическая партия Туркменистана; tk, Türkmenistanyň Kommunistik Partiýasy) was the ruling communist party of the Turkmen SSR, and a part of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. From 1985 it was led by Saparmurat Niyazov. 16 December 1991, as the Soviet Union was in the process of dissolving, Niyazov reorganized the CPT as the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan. The current Communist Party of Turkmenistan was made illegal during the presidency of Niyazov after independence and remains banned. Vasily Rykov
Vasily Nazarovich Rykov (Russian: Василий Назарович Рыков); (August 13, 1918, Vladivostok - October 18, 2011, Moscow) was a Soviet politician and diplomat. In 1936, he studied at an Industrial institute in Novocherkassk. In 1943, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. He became the Second Secretary of the Leningrad Regional Committee of the CPSU in 1952. From 1963 to 1975 he was the Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkmenistan in the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic. In 1975, Rykov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Muhammetnazar Gapuroviç Gapurov (Turkmen Cyrillic: Мухамметназар Гапурович Гапуров; rus, links=no, Мухамметназар Капурович Капуров, Mukhammetnazar Kapurovich Kapurov; 15 February 192213 July 1999) was a Turkmen politician who has served as the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Turkmen SSR from 1969 until 1985. Balysh Ovezov
Balysh Ovezovich Ovezov (29 December 1915 – 13 October 1975), served as General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Turkmen SSR twice, from 1950 to 1951 and again from 1960 to 1969. Biography Ovezov was born in a village in Turkmenistan, then part of the Russian Empire. Orphaned at an early age, he graduated from the Higher Party School of the Central Committee. He first worked as a teacher, and took on responsibility for the Komsomol in Turkmenistan. Gradually, he took on greater roles within the Communist Party, before being appointed General Secretary. He succeeded Shadzha Batyrov as First Secretary of the Communist Party of Turkmenistan, beginning his first term in 1950 and staying in office until October 1951, when Sukhan Babayev became General Secretary.
