Bapaume
Bapaume (original Dutch name Batpalmen) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of northern France. The inhabitants of this commune are known as ''Bapalmois'' or ''Bapalmoises''. Geography Bapaume is a farming and light industrial town located some 23 km south by south-east of Arras and 50 km north-east of Amiens. Access to the commune is by the D 917 road from Ervillers in the north which passes through the commune in a zig-zag then continues south-east to Beaulencourt. The D 930 goes east by north-east to Frémicourt. The D 929 branches off the D 917 at the edge of the commune and goes south-west to Warlencourt-Eaucourt. The A1 autoroute passes south down the eastern edge of the commune and serves the city by the exit 14. Vaulx-Vraucourt
Vaulx-Vraucourt is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Vaulx-Vraucourt lies southeast of Arras and about northeast of Bapaume, at the junction of the D20, D10E and D36 roads. History The commune name comes from the two hamlets that were combined into one commune in 1821. The village was the site of heavy fighting during World War I. Major battles occurred in this area in 1917 and 1918. Morval, Pas-de-Calais
Morval () is a Communes of France, commune in the Pas-de-Calais Departments of France, department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Morval is located south of Arras, on the D11 road, completely surrounded by the department of the Somme (department), Somme. The junction between A1 autoroute, A1 and A2 autoroutes is less than away. Population History The Battle of Morval, a British offensive action, occurred as part of the larger Battle of the Somme in September. It destroyed Morval and nearby villages. The village, including the church of St. Vaast, was rebuilt after World War I. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemeteries in Morval hold the graves of 54 British soldiers, while the Community cemetery includes the graves of two airmen.
