It is located in the Pas-de-Calais department, in the Hauts-de-France region, northern France. It was created on 1 January 1994. Audruicq
Audruicq (; vls, Ouderwijk, lang) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in northern France. Geography A town located 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Calais, at the junction of the D224 with the D309 road. History Baldwin II, Count of Flanders named it a city in 1175, rebuilding the castle and converting the surrounding marshland to tillable soil. After continuously changing authority between the 13th century and the 17th century, Audruicq finally became a French town after the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678. Zutkerque
Zudkerque () is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Zutkerque is located 11 miles (17 km) northwest of Saint-Omer, at the D226 road junction with the D191. History Zutkerque had a castle in Roman times, known as the Promontory. Mentioned for the first time in 1084, its name comes from Dutch and means "South church" (compare nearby Nortkerque). In 1396, Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy stayed at the castle. The English occupied it in the year 1405. Louis XI took it back in 1477 and king Henry VII fought and won it again in 1488. Finally, in 1542 the French, under Antoine de Bourbon, duke of Vendôme, re-took it and completely destroyed the castle. In May 1595, the village church was looted by the French. On 7 August 1635, a body of Spanish troops, from Saint-Omer, seized the town. In 1638, the French seized the village back again. Oye-Plage
Oye-Plage (; vls, Ooie, lang) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Oye-Plage lies about east of Calais, on the junction of the D219 and the D940. The commune is nearly a mile from the English Channel. History The commune has ancient origins. The name is first recorded as ''Ogia'' in the 8th century, which means 'island' ( Protogermanic ''*aujō''), was used for those islands that survived high tides. The Vikings landed here in 879 with the aim of invading Moriny. In the county of Boulogne until 1259, Oye belonged to the counts of Artois until 1346, the English until 1558 and to the Kings of France since that date, under the name of Oye county. It was at Oye chateau that a peace treaty was signed on 6 July 1439 between France and England.
