Play! A Video Game Symphony
PLAY! A Video Game Symphony was a concert series that featured music from video games performed by a live orchestra. The concerts from 2006 to 2010 were conducted by Arnie Roth. From 2010, Andy Brick took the position of principal conductor and music director. Play! was replaced by the Replay: Symphony of Heroes concert series. History In 2004, Jason Michael Paul was approached by Square Enix to organize a concert for music from its ''Final Fantasy'' series. After the concert sold out in a few days, Paul decided to turn video game music concerts into a series. Arnie Roth, who had previously conducted the '' Dear Friends - Music from Final Fantasy'' and ''More Friends: Music from Final Fantasy'' concerts, was selected to conduct the concerts. ''Play'' is a monthly magazine produced by Future Publishing in the United Kingdom, which reports on Sony's PlayStation product range. It had been published by Imagine Publishing but closed in 2016. It was resurrected as a replacement for the official UK PlayStation magazine in May 2021. Before it originally closed, it had become the UK's longest-running PlayStation magazine. Issue 269, the magazine's final printed edition was published in April 2016 when it become a digital only publication for a short time. As well as being sold in the UK, ''PLAY'' is also sold in Australia. Though because of the distance between the two countries, Australia is one month behind, so some of the information may be inaccurate or old. The Xperia Play is a smartphone with elements of a handheld game console produced by Sony Ericsson. With the marketshare for dedicated handheld game consoles diminishing into the 2010s due to the rapid expansion of smartphones with cheap downloadable games, Sony attempted to tackle the issue with two separate devices; a dedicated video game console with elements of a smartphone, called the PlayStation Vita, and a smartphone with elements of a handheld console, the Xperia Play. ''Play'' is a symphony for orchestra in three movements by the American composer Andrew Norman. The work was commissioned by the Boston Modern Orchestra Project, for whom Norman was then composer-in-residence. It was first performed on May 17, 2013 by the orchestra under the conductor Gil Rose. Christopher Martin (born July 10, 1962) is an American rapper and actor, who is the latter half of the late 1980s/early 1990s hip-hop/comedy duo Kid 'n Play. Career Martin's stage name, Play, is derived from his original MC name, Playboy, which he began using while in a music group, Quicksilver and the Super Lovers, which featured producer Hurby Luv Bug. While performing with this group, Martin met Christopher Reid, who performed as Kid Coolout in the group The Turnout Brothers.
