Committee On Budgetary Control
The Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) is a committee of the European Parliament. with 30 permanent members. It can be seen as the European Union's internal "political watchdog", seeking to identify undesirable developments within EU institutions and other bodies and then to elaborate constructive suggestions for improvement. The committee's chair as of 2022 is Monika Hohlmeier. Responsibilities of the committee The Committee on Budgetary Control is responsible for the control of the implementation of the European Union's budget, meaning that the taxpayers' money is spent efficiently, effectively and according to EU law. In close cooperation with the Court of Auditors, it audits the accounts of EU institutions and suggests improvements in order to ensure sound financial management. It considers fraud and irregularities in the budget implementation, and suggests measures aimed at preventing and prosecuting such cases. The committees of the European Parliament are designed to aid the European Commission in initiating legislation. Standing committees are made up of Members of the European Parliament (MEPs), who are directly elected to the seats in the European Parliament by the electorate. Each committee has a chairman and four vice-chairmen, along with numerous committee members. Each committee also has substitute members. Reports are usually compiled by a rapporteur, who is appointed by the chairman of the committee, selected from amongst the members or permanent substitutes. The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) is the political group in the European Parliament of the Party of European Socialists (PES). The Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats was officially founded as a Socialist Group on 29 June 1953 which makes it the second oldest political group in the European Parliament after Renew Europe (Renew). It adopted its present-day name on 23 June 2009. Centre-left in orientation, the group mostly comprises social-democratic parties and is affiliated with the Progressive Alliance and Socialist International. Until the 1999 European Parliament elections, it was the largest group in the Parliament, but since then it has always been the second-largest group. Nedzhmi Ali ( bg, Неджми Али; born 16 July 1972 in Dzhebel, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian politician of Bulgarian-Turkish descent and Member of the European Parliament (MEP). Anders Primdahl Vistisen (born 12 November 1987) is a Danish politician and Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Denmark. He is a member of the Danish People's Party, part of the European Conservatives and Reformists. He has been the national chairman of the youth section of the party since November 2009. Philip Bradbourn
Philip Charles Bradbourn, (9 August 1951 – 19 December 2014) was a British Conservative Party politician. He served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the West Midlands from 1999 to 2014. Early and personal life Born in Tipton in 1951, Bradbourn was educated at Tipton Grammar School and Wulfrun College and Worcester College, where he obtained a post-graduate Diploma in Municipal Administration in 1972. Derek Vaughan is a Welsh Labour politician who served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for Wales between 2009 and 2019.
