Columbus Presbyterian Church
The Columbus Presbyterian Church was a historic church on Arkansas Highway 73 in Columbus, Arkansas. The church was built in 1875 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It was destroyed by a falling tree in 2008, and removed from the National Register in 2013. Columbus was a farming community up until the 1960s. There was once a bank owned by the Wilson family of Columbus, along with several stores and a school, the most notable store being a general store owned by David Mitchell. The stores have since been torn down. During the 1940s, Columbus school consolidated with Hope School District. The old gym was recently burnt, leaving only two doorways. Some of the prominent families of Columbus included Caldwell, Wilson, Mitchell, Hawthorne, Downs, and Stuart.

Arkansas Highway 73
Arkansas Highway 73 (AR 73 and Hwy. 73) is a designation for two state highways in South Arkansas. The western route of runs from US 278 north to Highway 355. An eastern alignment runs from US 67 in east Hope to Arkansas Highway 53. Route description Western segment Highway 73 begins in Hempstead County at Highway 355 near Millwood Lake, close to the Howard County line. The route briefly enters Howard County before reentering Hempstead County near Columbus and the Columbus Presbyterian Church. Highway 73 runs along the southern border of the Rick Evans Grandview Prairie Wildlife Management Area past the Grandison D. Royston House before intersecting Highway 195 at Cross Roads. The route continues further southeast through rural country before terminating at US 278.
