"Columbia" is a song by English rock band Oasis (band), Oasis. The song features on their 1994 debut album, ''Definitely Maybe''. Writing and recording "Columbia" was one of the first songs Noel Gallagher ever wrote in Oasis (band), Oasis, likely dating back to late 1991. The song was named after the Columbia Hotel in London; however, the meaning of its lyrics remain ambiguous. The writing of the song is credited exclusively to Noel. However, Liam Gallagher had involvement in the song's conception, having created the melody and written the chorus during a jamming session. The song received its live debut on 15 January 1992 at Oasis' second gig at the Boardwalk in Manchester where they opened their set with it. Oasis are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1991. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals), Paul Arthurs, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (musician), Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam asked his older brother Noel Gallagher (lead guitar, vocals) to join as a fifth member a few months later to finalise their formation. Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs
Paul Benjamin Arthurs (born 23 June 1965), better known as Bonehead, is an English musician. He is best known as the co-founder and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Oasis, playing with the band from its inception in 1991 until his departure in 1999. After Oasis, Arthurs released albums as part of two duos, Parlour Flames and Phoneys & the Freaks, and has toured as a member of Oasis bandmate Liam Gallagher's solo band. In 2025, he joined the reformed Oasis for their Oasis Live '25 Tour. Early life Arthurs was born in 1965 at Saint Mary's Hospital in Manchester, the son of Irish Catholic parents. Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan
Paul Francis McGuigan (born 9 May 1971), known as Guigsy ( ), is an English retired musician. He is best known as the original bassist and co-founder of the rock band Oasis. Career In the late 1980s, McGuigan started a band called The Rain with Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs on guitar, Chris Hutton on lead vocals, and Tony McCarroll on drums. After Hutton was fired, McGuigan invited his school friend Liam Gallagher to join on vocals. Liam's brother Noel then joined the band as a guitarist and the primary songwriter, at which point they changed their name to Oasis. Sawmills Studios is a recording studio founded in 1974 by record producer, Tony Cox. It is located in Golant, on the banks of the River Fowey in Cornwall. Description The studio building is located on the tidal creek on the banks of the Fowey. Sawmills were one of the first residential recording facilities in the UK. The main building is a former 17th-century water mill and the site has a documented history stretching back to the 11th century. The location is unusual as it can be accessed only by boat or the Saints' Way footpath that runs past the studio, and this location is considered one of UK's "residential recording studios". William John Paul Gallagher (born 21 September 1972) is an English singer and songwriter. The Heathen Chemistry World Tour was a concert tour by English band Oasis, which took place between 2002 and 2003. The tour was in promotion of their record '' Heathen Chemistry''. While the tour was successful, it was plagued by major incidents including lead singer Liam Gallagher's voice giving out during three of the band's gigs and resulted in him walking off stage and guitarist Noel Gallagher had to take over on vocals, a car crash that left Noel, bassist Andy Bell, and touring keyboardist Jay Darlington in hospital and resulted in the North America leg getting cut short and a bar brawl in Munich, Germany involving Liam, drummer Alan White and several members of their crew that left Liam getting his teeth knocked out and getting fined £35,000, White getting brain scans, and the Germany leg being delayed to March 2003. The 10 Years of Noise and Confusion Tour was a concert tour by English band Oasis, which took place between 7 October to 14 October 2001. The tour was to celebrate the band's formation 10 years earlier and was performed in smaller venues compared opposed to the larger venues that band performed during their rise to prominence. The band had special guests on stage during the tour with Paul Weller coming on during the London dates and Johnny Marr coming on during the Manchester and Glasgow dates. The first night in Glasgow was recorded and released as "Oasis: 10 Years Of Noise Confusion" on Sky Box Office, it would also be shown on several music video channels throughout the years before becoming available on Apple TV and Paramount+ in 2023. The Tour of Brotherly Love was a concert tour featuring Oasis, The Black Crowes, and Spacehog, three rock bands featuring pairs of brothers: Noel and Liam Gallagher, Chris and Rich Robinson, Royston and Antony Langdon, respectively.
