Collins And Maconie's Hit Parade
''Collins and Maconie's Hit Parade'' was a radio programme that aired from May 1994 to June 1997. There were 74 hour-long episodes and it was broadcast on BBC Radio 1. It starred Andrew Collins and Stuart Maconie, with regular comedy input from fellow NME journalist David Quantick. Produced by BBC Radio 1 DJ Mark Goodier's production company Wise Buddah, it was essentially a revival of the defunct round table format, in which the week's new singles are assessed by two regular guest contributors, predominantly music journalists, such as Caitlin Moran, Adrian Deevoy and John Harris of Q magazine. Andrew Collins (broadcaster)
Andrew Collins is an English writer and broadcaster. He is the creator and writer of the Radio 4 sitcom ''Mr Blue Sky''. His TV writing work includes ''EastEnders'' and the sitcoms ''Grass'' (which he co-wrote with Simon Day) and ''Not Going Out'' (which he initially co-wrote with Lee Mack). Collins has also worked as a music, television and film critic. Personal life Collins was briefly a member of the Labour Party between the late 1980s and early 1990s, leaving after Labour's defeat in the 1992 General Election. In 2007, he was made patron of Thomas's Fund, a Northampton-based music therapy charity for children with life-limiting illnesses. David Quantick
David Quantick (born 14 May 1961) is an English novelist, comedy writer and critic, who has worked as a journalist and screenwriter. A former freelance writer for the music magazine ''NME'', his writing credits have included '' On the Hour'', ''Blue Jam'', ''TV Burp'' and ''Veep''; for the latter of these he won an Emmy in 2015. Biography Quantick was born in Wortley, West Riding of Yorkshire (now South Yorkshire) on 14 May 1961, adopted, and moved at an early age with his family to Plymouth. Quantick went to Woodford Junior School and Plymouth College, then Exmouth Comprehensive School. Mark Goodier
Mark Goodier (born 9 June 1961) is a British radio disc jockey best known for his time on BBC Radio 1 between 1987 and 2002. He had two spells presenting the station's Top 40 singles chart, from 1990 to 1992 and from 1995 until 2002. He also had a stint on ''Radio 1 Breakfast'' during 1993. He currently presents the mid-morning show between 10am and 1pm on Greatest Hits Radio. Goodier has also presented shows on BBC Radio 2, Classic FM, 102.2 Smooth Radio and Real Radio, and appeared on BBC television as a recurring presenter of ''Top of the Pops'' between 1988 and 1996. Round table is a form of academic discussion. Participants agree on a specific topic to discuss and debate. Each person is given equal right to participate, as illustrated by the idea of a circular layout referred to in the term round table. Round-table discussions, together with houses of hospitality and agronomic universities, is one of the key elements of the Catholic Worker Movement, as formulated by Peter Maurin, one of the co-founders of the movement. The Radio Academy Awards, started in 1983, were the most prestigious awards in the British radio industry. For most of their existence, they were run by ZAFER Associates, but in latter years were brought under the control of The Radio Academy. The awards were generally referred to by the name of their first sponsor, Sony, as The Sony Awards, The Sony Radio Awards or variations. In August 2013, Sony announced the end of its sponsorship agreement with The Radio Academy after 32 years. Consequently, the awards were named simply ''The Radio Academy Awards''. In November 2014, it was announced that The Radio Academy would not be holding the awards in 2015, and would be looking for other ways to recognise achievement in the future.
