Collective (2019 Film)
''Collective'' ( ro, Colectiv, also known as ''Collective: Unravelling a Scandal'') is a 2019 Romanian documentary film directed, written, produced and edited by Alexander Nanau. The film centers on the 2016 public health scandal following the Colectiv nightclub fire. The film follows dual stories of investigative journalists at the Romanian newspaper Gazeta Sporturilor uncovering public healthcare corruption and maladministration, and the government's response to the crisis at the Ministry of Health. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on 4 September 2019, and was released in Romania on 28 February 2020, and on 20 November 2020 in other countries, including the UK and USA. Alexander Nanau
Alexander Nanau (born 18 May 1979) is an Oscar-nominated German/Romanian film director, film producer and screenwriter. Biography Alexander Nanau was born on 18 May 1979, in Bucharest, Romania. He has lived in Germany since 1990. Nanau studied directing at the German Academy of Film and Television in Berlin (DFFB) and was the holder of two scholarships, one at the Sundance Institute, and another at the Akademie der Künste in Berlin. Career In 2007, he founded the Alexander Nanau Production production house in Romania. His documentary, '' The World According to Ion B.'', won the 2010 International Emmy Award in the "Arts Programming" category. Lung transplantation, or pulmonary transplantation, is a surgical procedure in which one or both lungs are replaced by lungs from a donor. The Social Democratic Party ( ro, Partidul Social Democrat, PSD) is the largest social democratic political party in Romania and also the largest overall political party in the country, aside from European Parliament level, where it is the second largest by total number of MEPs, after the National Liberal Party (PNL). Goodbye to Gravity was a Romanian metalcore band from Bucharest, active from 2011 until 2015, when four of the band's five members died during their concert at a night club in Bucharest, due to a burning firework that started a large fire. History The band first got together in 2010, although they did not play publicly until 2011. Frontman Andrei Găluț, who had previously won the Romanian talent show ''Megastar'' on Prima TV, enlisted the help of a full band, including former members of the Romanian band Thunderstorm, to get the band going. In 2012 the band released their self-titled debut album to a warm reception and steadily built their reputation in Romania. As a result of the success of ''Goodbye to Gravity'', the band were signed to Universal Music's Romanian branch, and played at festivals in countries such as Germany, Portugal and Italy.
