Colin Roberts (16 September 1933 – September 2017) was an English professional footballer who played as a wing half. Career Roberts was born in Castleford. He played football for Altofts Colliery before signing for Bradford Park Avenue in 1951. He made his debut in the Football League in the 1953–54 season, and over that and the next two seasons made 75 League appearances for Park Avenue. After returning to non-league football with Frickley Colliery, Roberts spent two seasons back in the league with Bradford City Bradford City Association Football Club is an English professional football club in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Colin Roberts (diplomat)
Colin Roberts (born 31 July 1959) is a British diplomat and the former Governor of the Falkland Islands and former Commissioner of the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. He was educated at Winchester College, The Courtauld Institute of Art and King's College, Cambridge. He previously served as British Ambassador to Lithuania, from 2004 to 2008, Commissioner of the British Indian Ocean Territory and the British Antarctic Territory from 2008 to 2012 and Director of the FCO Eastern Europe and Central Asia Directorate from 2012 to 2014. Roberts also held diplomatic service posts in Japan and France. In April 2010, Roberts, acting on the instructions of David Miliband—established a marine nature reserve around the Chagos Islands known as the Chagos Marine Protected Area. The designation proved controversial as the decision was announced during a period when the UK Parliament was in recess. Colin Henderson Roberts
Colin Henderson Roberts (8 June 1909 – 11 February 1990) was a classical scholar and publisher. He was Secretary to the Delegates of Oxford University Press between 1954 and 1974. Biography Roberts was born on 8 June 1909 in Queen Elizabeth Walk, Stoke Newington, London. His elder brother, Brian Richard Roberts, was later the editor of '' The Sunday Telegraph''. He was educated at Merchant Taylors' School and St John's College, Oxford, where he read Classics, taking Firsts in both Honour Moderations and '' literae humaniores'' and was elected to the Craven University Fellowship. In 1934 he was elected a Junior Research Fellow at St John's, and remained a fellow there until 1976. Under the influence of his tutors, Roberts became interested in papyrology and in the history of the book in ancient times.
