The Scottish National Bowls Championships is one of the oldest bowls competitions in the world. In 1892 Mr James Brown of Sanquhar BC and Dr Clark of the Partick BC formed the Scottish Bowls Association and organised the first rink (fours) championship the following year at the Queen's Park Club, Glasgow (it was the first national championships and was known as the McEwan Cup). The Commonwealth Games, often referred to as the Friendly Games or simply the Comm Games, are a quadrennial international multi-sport event among athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. The 2006 Commonwealth Games, officially the XVIII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Melbourne 2006 (Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: ''Narrm 2006'' or ''Naarm 2006''), was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth held in Melbourne, Australia between 15 and 26 March 2006.
