Colin Moodie
Colin Troup Moodie (5 April 19136 February 2000) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. Life and career Moodie was born on 5 April 1913 in Wollstonecraft, New South Wales. In 1920, when Moodie was seven, he and his family moved to Adelaide so that Moodie's father could take a bank manager role. Moodie was educated at St Peter's College, Adelaide, achieving a scholarship to St. Mark's College at the University of Adelaide after being named dux of his class. Moodie graduated from the university in 1934 with a Bachelor of Laws. He began a legal career and was associate to Herbert Angas Parsons before resigning in 1937 to take up an appointment at the Department of External Affairs as a clerk. Wollstonecraft, New South Wales
Wollstonecraft (, ) is a harbourside suburb on the lower North Shore of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 4 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of North Sydney Council. History Wollstonecraft was named after Edward Wollstonecraft, the first settler to receive a land grant of in the area, in 1821. Wollstonecraft left England to seek fortune for himself and his sister Elizabeth and to escape the notoriety of his aunt, Mary Wollstonecraft, author of the book ''A Vindication of the Rights of Woman''. Edward Wollstonecraft's business associate, Alexander Berry, was another prominent resident in the area, and namesake of Berry Island, a harbour-side location in Wollstonecraft. Lew Border
Lewis Harold Border (16 April 192011 March 2011) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. From 1977 to 1980, Border was Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand. Life and career Lew Border was born on 16 April 1920 in Bundarra, New South Wales. He was the son of an Anglican clergyman, the Ven Archdeacon H. Border, of Gunnedah. The younger Border attended The Armidale School between 1934 and 1937, then University of Sydney at the New England College. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts. Border enlisted in the Australian Army on 22 August 1942 at the rank of Bombardier. He was discharged on 20 April 1945. After his military service, Border joined the Department of External Affairs in 1945. In January 1963 then External Affairs Minister Garfield Barwick announced Border's appointment as Australian Ambassador to Myanmar. David McNicol (diplomat)
David Williamson McNicol (20 June 191318 September 2001) was an Australian public servant and diplomat. Early life and career McNicol was born on 20 June 1913 in Adelaide. He was educated at Carey Baptist Grammar School and King's College. He graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the 1930s. During World War II, McNicol served in the RAAF as a pilot. Diplomatic career McNicol joined the Commonwealth Public Service in the Department of External Affairs in 1946. McNicol was a member of an Australian delegation responsible for negotiating the Manila treaty in September 1954. In December 1954, McNicol's appointment as Minister to Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia was announced. In January 1955 the Australian Government announced McNicol's residence for the post would be at the new Australian Legation in Cambodia, to be opened in February that year.
