Colchester was a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elected two members to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. It existed from 1867 to 1978 and included all of Colchester County. Thomas McMullen
Thomas Gotobed McMullen (January 7, 1844 – October 7, 1925) was a lumber merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Colchester County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1897 to 1901 as a Liberal-Conservative member. He was the son of Hugh McMullen and Rebecca Gotobed. McMullen was married twice: to Jessie McConnell in 1867 and then to a widow named Norris. He was leading principal of the Midland Railway, which was later purchased by the Dominion Atlantic Railway. McMullen died in Truro Truro (; kw, Truru) is a cathedral city and civil parish in Cornwall, England. Gordon Purdy
Gordon Timlin Purdy (1 July 1888 – 22 December 1974) was a Liberal party member of the House of Commons of Canada, 1935-1945 and 1953–1957. He was born in East Amherst, Nova Scotia and became a lumber merchant by career. He was first elected to Parliament at the Colchester—Hants riding in the 1935 general election then re-elected there in 1940. Purdy was defeated in the 1945 election by Frank Thomas Stanfield. When Stanfield left federal politics, Purdy won Colchester—Hants in the 1953 election. Frank Stanfield
Frank Stanfield (April 24, 1872 – September 25, 1931) was an entrepreneur in Nova Scotia, Canada, who was the 15th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia (1930–31) and represented Colchester County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly (1911–20 and 1925–30). He was the father of the politicians Robert Lorne Stanfield and Frank Thomas Stanfield. Early life He was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the son of Charles E. Stanfield, who established the Stanfield Mills in Truro, and Lydia Dawson. In 1896, with his brother John Stanfield, he took over the operation of the business, which was incorporated as Stanfield's Limited in 1906.
