The Coeur d'Alene City Hall is a historic building in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. It was built in 1908, and designed in the Renaissance Revival style by architect George Williams. Coeur d'Alene ( ; french: Cœur d'Alène, lit=Heart of an stitching awl, Awl ) is a city and the county seat of Kootenai County, Idaho, United States. It is the largest city in North Idaho and the principal city of the Coeur d'Alene Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census the city's population was 54,628. Coeur d'Alene is a satellite city of Spokane, Washington, Spokane, which is located about to the west in the state of Washington (state), Washington. George Williams (Idaho Architect)
George Williams (November 11, 1859 or 1860 in Kewanee, Illinois – December 22, 1929 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) was an American architect based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was born in Illinois and moved to Coeur D'Alene in 1903. A number of his works are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Renaissance Revival Architecture
Renaissance Revival architecture (sometimes referred to as "Neo-Renaissance") is a group of 19th century architectural revival styles which were neither Greek Revival nor Gothic Revival but which instead drew inspiration from a wide range of classicizing Italian modes. Under the broad designation Renaissance architecture nineteenth-century architects and critics went beyond the architectural style which began in Florence and Central Italy in the early 15th century as an expression of Renaissance humanism; they also included styles that can be identified as Mannerist or Baroque. Self-applied style designations were rife in the mid- and later nineteenth century: "Neo-Renaissance" might be applied by contemporaries to structures that others called "Italianate", or when many French Baroque features are present (Second Empire). Kootenai County Courthouse
The Kootenai County Courthouse, located at 501 Government Way in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Coeur d'Alene, is the county courthouse serving Kootenai County, Idaho, Kootenai County, Idaho. The courthouse was built in 1925–26. Spokane, Washington, Spokane architect Julius A. Zittle designed the Georgian Revival architecture, Georgian Revival building. A portico at the entrance features an entablature, frieze, and balcony supported by two Doric columns. The second-floor front windows are arched and have terra cotta ornamentation; brick pilasters separate the windows. The building is topped by a cornice and a brick parapet; a decorative Seal of Idaho, Idaho state seal is located on the parapet above the entrance. The courthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 23, 1977.
