Coco Palms Resort
Coco Palms Resort was a resort hotel in Wailua, Kauai County, Hawaii, Wailuā, Kauai, Kauaʻi, Hawaii, Hawaiʻi, that was noted for its Cinema of the United States, Hollywood connections, Hawaiian-themed weddings, torch lighting ceremonies, destruction by a hurricane, and long-standing land disputes. The resort includes or is near to many culturally significant spots and the sites of some of the most important legends and historical events for Native Hawaiians. The land is ancient Hawaiian royal property that has been in dispute since 1866. In that year, Junius Kaae, along with Kapiolani, Kalakaua, and others filed a petition seeking to revoke the will of Kealiiahonui, which had been filed in probate by Levi Haʻalelea in 1855. Wailua (literally, "two waters" in Hawaiian) is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauai County, Hawaii, United States. The population was 2,359 at the 2020 census, up from 2,083 at the 2000 census. Geography Wailua is located at (22.058631, -159.341761), on the east side of the island of Kauai. It is bordered to the north by Kapaa, to the west by the Wailua Homesteads CDP, to the south by the Wailua River, and to the east by the Pacific Ocean. Nounou Mountain, also known as the "Sleeping Giant", is about tall and divides coastal Wailua (the Wailua CDP) from inland Wailua (the Wailua Homesteads CDP). Kamehameha II (November 1797 – July 14, 1824) was the second king of the Kingdom of Hawaii. His birth name was Liholiho and full name was Kalaninui kua Liholiho i ke kapu ʻIolani. Widower
A widow (female) or widower (male) is a person whose spouse has died. Terminology The state of having lost one's spouse to death is termed ''widowhood''. An archaic term for a widow is "relict," literally "someone left over". This word can sometimes be found on older gravestones. The word "widow" comes from an Indo-European root meaning "widow" and has cognates across Indo-European languages. Levi Haʻalelea
Levi (; ) was, according to the Book of Genesis, the third of the six sons of Jacob and Leah (Jacob's third son), and the founder of the Israelite Tribe of Levi (the Levites, including the Kohanim) and the great-grandfather of Aaron, Moses and Miriam. Certain religious and political functions were reserved for the Levites. Wailua Falls
Wailua Falls is a waterfall on the island of Kauai, part of the US state of Hawaii. The 173 foot (52.7 m) falls are located on the South Fork Wailua River near Lihue. The waterfall is prominently featured on the opening credits of the television series ''Fantasy Island''. There are paths to the bottom of the falls, but it can be muddy and slippery. The "trail" further from the parking lot is less steep than the closer one. In ancient times, Hawaiian men would jump from the top of the falls to prove their manhood. Some people still leap off the top of the falls, though it is dangerous and illegal. In 2016, a man jumped from the falls and was knocked unconscious but narrowly avoided death when someone swam out into the pool to save him. The pool is great for swimming, but there are swift currents close to the waterfall. There is another waterfall nearby named 'Opaeka'a Falls. Deborah Kapule
Deborah Kapule Kekaihaʻakūlou (c. 1798–1853) was the last Queen of Kauaʻi (as wife to Kaumualiʻi) before the establishment of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi by King Kamehameha I. Life She was born around 1798; the location of her birth is not known for certain but, since she lived around Waimea and since she received property there from her father in later life, it is assumed that this was her birthplace. Her genealogy is not well documented. According to one source, her father was a High Chief Hāʻupu of Waimea, who was one of the chiefs whom King Kaumualiʻi sent to Oahu in 1810. But according to Hawaiian historian Samuel Kamakau, her (or at least Kekaihaʻakūlou's) parents were Kaiʻawa and Hāwea. Kaʻahumanu
Kaahumanu (March 17, 1768 – June 5, 1832) (''"the feathered mantle"'') was queen consort and acted as regent of the Kingdom of Hawaii as Kuhina Nui. She was the favorite wife of King Kamehameha I and also the most politically powerful, and continued to wield considerable power as co-ruler in the kingdom during reigns of his first two successors. Early life Kaahumanu was born in a cave called Puu Kauiki in Hāna on the Hawaiian island of Maui. She was born on 17 March 1768.
