The club is named after Ramon Santamarina, Joaquin Ramón Cesareo Manuel Santamarina (1827-1904), an Argentine businessman. The club has only played one season in the Primera División Argentina, Argentine Primera. In 1985, it competed in the National championships, where it finished second in their group to qualify for the 2nd round where it was eliminated by Club Atlético Independiente, Independiente 6–3 on aggregate. Torneo Argentino B
Torneo Argentino B was one of two leagues that form the fourth level of the Argentine football league system, made up of 100+ teams playing within eight regional zones across Argentina. The other league at level four wasand still isthe Primera C Metropolitana, which is a competition for the numerous clubs in the city of Buenos Aires and the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. The Torneo Argentino B season would end with the top teams from each zone playing in cross-over playoffs, culminating with overall champions and a number of teams (varied by season) eligible for promotion to the following season's Torneo Argentino A competition. 2013–14 Torneo Argentino A
The 2013–14 season, was the nineteenth Torneo Argentino A season since it became part of the third tier of the Argentine football league system. The tournament is reserved for teams indirectly affiliated to the Asociación del Fútbol Argentino (AFA), while teams affiliated to AFA have to play the Primera B Metropolitana, which is the other third tier competition. The champion will be promoted to Primera B Nacional. The regular season began on August 16, 2013 and was scheduled to end on June 7, 2014. The Torneo Argentino A (in English "Argentine A Tournament") was one of the two leagues that formed the regionalised third level of the Argentine football league system. Clubs in the Torneo Argentino have indirect membership in AFA, while clubs in the Primera B Metropolitana (the other third division) have direct membership in AFA. All teams with indirect membership are from outside the city of Buenos Aires and its metropolitan area (Greater Buenos Aires), while most of the direct members are from the aforementioned area. Martín Esteban Michel (born 4 October 1983) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Santamarina. Career Grupo Universitario were Michel's first team. After playing for them in the 2001–02 Torneo Argentino B, he had stints with Ateneo Estrada, Atlético Ayacucho and Ferroviario de Coronel Dorrego. Michel rejoined Grupo Universitario in 2004, remaining for a total of four years. Ahead of the 2008–09 Primera B Nacional campaign, Michel joined Quilmes. Alan Leonel Bonansea (born 6 May 1996) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a forward for Santamarina in the Primera B Nacional. Career Bonansea started his career with Argentine Primera División side Lanús. In 2016, he departed on loan to sign for Central Norte of Torneo Federal B.
