"Closer" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter, Michael Paynter, released physically and digitally as his debut single on 28 June 2008. The song was used in advertisements for the Seven Network's drama series, ''City Homicide''. It was to be included on Paynter's debut album ''This Welcome Diversion'', however its release was delayed and then cancelled by Sony after Paynter was dropped from the label. However, an acoustic version of the song was included on Paynter's free album ''Money on Your Tongue''. "Closer" peaked at number sixty-one on the ARIA Singles Chart. Michael Paynter
Michael Paynter (born 29 January 1986), is an Australian singer-songwriter. Paynter has released five singles, " Closer", "A Victim Song", " Love the Fall", "How Sweet It Is" and "Weary Stars". Paynter competed in the second season of ''The Voice Australia'' after being dropped from his record label and successfully made the Top 16, but did not advance to the Top 12. Early life Paynter began playing instruments from a young age, playing the piano at the age of seven, and learning guitar and drums by the time he was 15. At the age of 16, he began playing in touring bands across Australia. Regarding music, Paynter says that it "was always something I was going to do, because it fires up my soul like nothing else". He studied law for a year, but returned to music. Gary Clark (born 10 March 1962, Dundee, Scotland) is a Scottish musician, songwriter and record producer. As a performer he is best known as the frontman of 1980s pop band Danny Wilson and mid-1990s rock band King L (as well as for being a member of Transister). Since the mid-1990s he has concentrated on songwriting and production. Career Performer – Danny Wilson, solo, King L, Transister During the early 1980s Clark worked with his longtime friend Ged Grimes in a variety of London-based bands including Clark's Commandos and Dream Kitchen. City Homicide
''City Homicide'' is an Australian television drama series that aired on the Seven Network between 27 August 2007 and 30 March 2011. The series was set on the Homicide floor of a metropolitan police headquarters in Melbourne. The main characters were six detectives, who solve the murder cases, and their three superior officers. ''City Homicide'' did not return in its regular format in 2011. A six-episode mini-series titled '' No Greater Honour'' was shown instead which marked the closing storyline of the series. The mini-series guest-starred Claire van der Boom, Marcus Graham, John Howard and Graeme Blundell.
