Cliff Richard
Sir Cliff Richard (born Harry Rodger Webb; 14 October 1940) is an Indian-born British musican, singer, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist who holds both British and Barbadian citizenship. He has total sales of over 21.5 million singles in the United Kingdom and is the third-top-selling artist in UK Singles Chart history, behind the Beatles and Elvis Presley. Richard was originally marketed as a rebellious rock and roll singer in the style of Presley and Little Richard. With his backing group, the Shadows, he dominated the British popular music scene in the pre-Beatles period of the late 1950s to early 1960s. His 1958 hit single "Move It" is often described as Britain's first authentic rock and roll song. In the early 1960s, he had a prosperous screen career with films including '' The Young Ones'', '' Summer Holiday'' and '' Wonderful Life'' and his own television show at the BBC. Increased focus on his Christian faith and subsequent softening of his music led t ...

Abbey Road Studios
Abbey Road Studios (formerly EMI Recording Studios) is a recording studio at 3 Abbey Road, St John's Wood, City of Westminster, London, England. It was established in November 1931 by the Gramophone Company, a predecessor of British music company EMI, which owned it until Universal Music Group (UMG) took control of part of it in 2013. It is ultimately owned by UMG subsidiary Virgin Records Limited (until 2013 by EMI Records Limited, nowadays known as Parlophone Records and owned by UMG's competitor Warner Music Group). The studio's most notable client was the Beatles, who used the studio – particularly its Studio Two room – as the venue for many of the innovative recording techniques that they adopted throughout the 1960s. In 1976, the studio was renamed from EMI in honour of their final recorded album, ''Abbey Road''. In 2009, Abbey Road came under threat of sale to property developers. In response, the British Government protected the site, granting it English Herita ...

Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile
''Rock 'n' Roll Juvenile'' is the 22nd studio album by Cliff Richard, released in 1979. It featured his biggest-ever single, " We Don't Talk Anymore", which was a UK No. 1 hit (his first since 1968's "Congratulations" and his only one of the 1970s) and the No. 4 hit "Carrie". Background Recording sessions for the album began on 18 July 1978, before his previous album had been released. Over the next few days, the backing tracks of many of the songs were recorded, while the vocals weren't begun until January 1979 and continued on sporadically for the next few months, with the final vocal to be completed being for "Falling in Love" on 30 June 1979 (almost a year after the backing track). The final song to be considered for inclusion was "We Don't Talk Anymore", which had been recorded completely in one day in May 1979. The album was produced largely by Terry Britten, a regular songwriter for Richard, but this was his first production work with him. Richard himself was named as ...

I'm Nearly Famous
''I'm Nearly Famous'' is the eighteenth studio album by Cliff Richard, released in May 1976. The album is considered one of his finest works and is held as the album which brought about Cliff Richard's revival as a major chart act. The lead single on the album, "Miss You Nights", made number 15 in the UK Singles Chart in early 1976, followed by " Devil Woman" which showed a new harder-edged side to Richard's music and became one of his biggest worldwide hits, peaking at number 9 in the UK and becoming his first US Top 10, reaching number 6 and earning a gold disc for sales of half a million. " I Can't Ask for Anymore Than You" was the third single, reaching number 17 in the UK and number 80 in the US. Background Cliff Richard's career had seen a downward slump in the 1970s compared to his success in the previous decade, culminating in his not hitting the chart at all in 1975 - the first year of his career not to do so. Bruce Welch set about finding new songs for Cliff and was ...

Finders Keepers (1966 Film)
''Finders Keepers'' is a 1966 British musical film directed by Sidney Hayers, written by Michael Pertwee and starring Cliff Richard and The Shadows. It was released in the U.S. the following year. A search was made to find an actress to play the Spanish girl who falls for Cliff, and the 21-year-old Viviane Ventura won the role: born in London, but fluent in Spanish, she sang a spirited duet with Cliff on "Paella". Plot Cliff and The Shadows travel to a Spanish town for a gig. When they arrive they are puzzled to find the area empty. They find out that a small bomb has accidentally been dropped on the town and the villagers have fled in panic that it will go off. The boys decide to find the bomb and restore peace in the village, with some musical numbers along the way. Influence The story is loosely based on a real accident on 17 January 1966, when a US B-52 strategic bomber, carrying four thermonuclear bombs, collided in mid-air with KC-135 tanker plane near Palomares, Spain ...

Kinda Latin
''Kinda Latin'' is the tenth studio album by Cliff Richard, released in 1966. It is his seventeenth album overall. The album reached number 9 in the UK Album Charts in a 12 week run in the top 30. Reception The album was reviewed by Dave Thompson at AllMusic who wrote that "It's a terrific album, and no mistake". Thompson felt that in comparison to his albums recorded in Italian and Spanish, "Left to his own English language devices, however, Richard's natural vocal powers can scarcely be faulted - even the most practiced rehearsal can sound like an ad lib, and it doesn't matter how many times you catch that chuckle at the end of "Blame It on the Bossa Nova," it still seems as natural as breathing". Track listing #"Blame It on the Bossa Nova" ( Cynthia Weil, Barry Mann) #"Blowin' In the Wind" (Bob Dylan) #"Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars" (Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gene Lees) #" Eso Beso" (Noel Sherman, Joe Sherman) #"The Girl from Ipanema" (Jobim, Norman Gimbel) #"One Note Samba" (J ...

Wonderful Life (Cliff Richard Album)
''Wonderful Life'' is a soundtrack album by Cliff Richard with The Shadows to the 1964 film '' Wonderful Life''. It is their third film soundtrack album and Richard's eleventh album overall. The album reached number 2 in the UK Albums Chart, spending 8 weeks in the top 3 and 23 weeks on in the top 20, but was a marked decline from their previous soundtrack album '' Summer Holiday'' that had spent 14 weeks at number 1. The album had two lead singles, the first being the instrumental "Theme for Young Lovers" from the Shadows, followed by " On the Beach" with Richard being backed by the Shadows. Curiously, some of the recordings on the album are not those used on the actual film soundtrack, including the title song. The vocal takes are different and in some cases the orchestrations are also altered slightly. The recordings on the album are generally more polished than the soundtrack ones. The Shadows' recording line-up included Brian Locking on bass guitar although by the time fil ...
