''Classic'' is the second studio album by British singer Joe McElderry. It was released by Decca Records on 19 August 2011 in Ireland and on 22 August 2011 in the United Kingdom. Signed copies were available to pre-order on Universal Music's online store. Background and production After his contract with Syco expired, and winning a second TV show ''Popstar to Operastar'', McElderry confirmed that he would be recording his second studio album, stating, "It's not going to be pop, it's going to be a lot of big, lush ballads. I wanted to do a few more ballads on my first album. It's going to appeal to all my fans. I'm going to sing a few Italian songs. I'm not going to change my voice – I don't want to scare people too much... I can't reveal which label it's with but it's an amazing label. The label was later revealed to be Decca Records. Joe McElderry
Joseph McElderry (; born 16 June 1991) is an English singer and songwriter. He won the sixth series of the ITV show ''The X Factor'' in 2009. His first single " The Climb" reached number one on both the UK Singles Chart and the Irish Singles Charts. He was also the winner of the second series of ''Popstar to Operastar'' in 2011 and the first series of '' The Jump'' in 2014. In 2015, McElderry played the lead role of Joseph in the touring production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical ''Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat''. In 2022, McElderry is set to perform a tour in tribute to George Michael. To date, McElderry has released five top 20 albums – two of them reaching the UK top three. Solitaire (Neil Sedaka Song)
"Solitaire" is a ballad written by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody. Cody employs playing the card game of solitaire as a metaphor for a man "who lost his love through his indifference"—"while life goes on around him everywhere he's playing solitaire". The song is perhaps best known via its rendition by the Carpenters. Another version by Andy Williams reached number 4 in the UK Singles Chart in 1973. Early versions Sedaka originally was inspired by Frederic Chopin (his favorite classical composer) for the chorus and by Roberta Flack in the verses. "I Dreamed a Dream" is a song from the 1980 musical ''Les Misérables''. It is a solo that is sung by the character Fantine during the first act. The music is by Claude-Michel Schönberg, with orchestrations by John Cameron. Juliette Louise B. Pochin (born 1971) is a Welsh classically trained mezzo-soprano singer, composer/arranger, and record producer. "Cavatina" is a 1970 classical guitar piece by British composer Stanley Myers written for the film ''The Walking Stick'' (1970), and popularised as the theme from ''The Deer Hunter'' some eight years later. The Italian musical term ''cavatina'' is frequently applied to any simple, melodious air. History In this form, it was first used for the film ''The Walking Stick'' (1970), and first released on Williams' 1971 album ''Changes''.
