He is most often associated with his book '' The Richest Man in Babylon'' which was first published in 1926. Early life and education Clason was born in Louisiana, Missouri. He attended the University of Nebraska. He served in the United States Army during the Spanish–American War. Career Clason started two companies, the Clason Map Company of Denver, Colorado and the Clason Publishing Company. The Clason Map Company was the first to publish a road atlas of the United States and Canada, but did not survive the Great Depression. Clason is best known for writing a series of informational pamphlets about being thrifty and how to achieve financial success. He started writing the pamphlets in 1926, using parables that were set in ancient Babylon. Biography Clason studied engineering and later architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where he was a student of Albert Theodor Gellerstedt (1836-1914), and later at the architectural school of the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts, at the time headed by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander (1816-1881). He received the royal medal in 1881 and studied abroad 1883-1886. He was elected member of the Academy of Arts in 1889, appointed professor of architecture at the Royal Institute of Technology in 1889 and became first surveyor in the Chief Surveyor's Office in 1904. He became vice president of the Art Academy in 1902 and president in 1918. He was also elected member of the Royal Academy of Sciences in 1907. 	Jesse Clason Jesse Arthur Clason (October 15, 1860 – April 7, 1918) was an American physician from Neosho, Wisconsin who served a single term as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly from Dodge County; he was elected as a Gold Democrat. Background Clason was born October 15, 1860, in Clason Prairie, Wisconsin, son of Michael B. and Sarah Phelps Clason. He was educated in the Clason Prairie district school and in the Milwaukee Public Schools. He attended Wayland University in Beaver Dam, and began to study medicine in 1882. He apprenticed himself to Dr. S. W. Thurber, whom he accompanied to Tecumseh, Nebraska. On April 10, 1882, he married Dixie Lennox (1852–1884). Clason attended the Missouri Medical College, graduating on March 4, 1884. 	Clason Prairie, Wisconsin Clason Prairie or Clason's Prairie was a former settlement in the Town of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, United States, roughly four miles southeast of Beaver Dam. It was named after James Clason, a native of Connecticut who settled there in 1841 and died in 1848. The one-room Clason Prairie School was closed down in 1962, although the building was still standing as of 1977. The old Clason Prairie Cemetery is still extant, at it is maintained by the town.
