Clash By Night (1963 Film)
''Clash by Night'' (released in the US as ''Escape by Night'') is a 1963 British crime thriller directed by Montgomery Tully and starring Terence Longdon and Jennifer Jayne. Plot A bus transporting criminals from court to prison is held up by crooks who rescue one of their gang. The bus is driven to a deserted farm and all the other occupants of the bus are locked in a barn. To give the gang leader plenty of time to escape, he tells the people - two prison officers, the driver and five prisoners - that the barn has been doused in petrol, and that two gang members will stay behind to guard it; they will set fire to the straw filled building if anyone attempts to escape. The prisoners and officers start to interact, but soon find they may be in danger from yet another source. Montgomery Tully
Montgomery Tully (6 May 190410 October 1988) was an Irish film director and writer. Film career Born in Dublin, Tully studied at the University of London, and originally entered the film industry as a director of documentaries. Later, Tully worked on low-budget British films, and is mostly known for his crime dramas. One of his films, ''No Road Back'' (1957), featured Sean Connery in a very early role. His last film, ''The Terrornauts'', was made in 1967. He also worked in television, directing episodes of shows such as ''Edgar Wallace Mysteries'', ''Kraft Mystery Theatre'', ''Man from Interpol'' and ''Fabian of the Yard''. Mark Dignam
Cuthbert Mark Dignam (20 March 1909 – 29 September 1989) was a prolific English actor. Born in London, the son of a salesman in the steel industry, Dignam grew up in Sheffield, and was educated at the Jesuit College, where he appeared in numerous Shakespearean plays. He learned his craft touring Britain and America with Ben Greet's Shakespeare company. His range extended from the Louis Macneice radio play, ''The Dark Tower'' in the 1940s to the TV thriller, ''The XYY Man'' in the late 1970s. Along with Philip Guard and John Bryning, Dignam can be heard on the fade-out of the Beatles' song "I Am the Walrus", during which is played a 1967 BBC radio broadcast of King Lear, with Dignam in the role of the Earl of Gloucester. Geoffrey R. Denton (born 1931) is a British economist. He served as Director of Wilton Park, and formerly as Reader in Economics at the University of Reading (from 1967) and Professor and head of economics at the College of Europe in Bruges.
