Superman is a superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster, and debuted in the comic book ''Action Comics'' Action Comics 1, #1 (cover-dated June 1938 and published April 18, 1938).The copyright date of ''Action Comics'' Action Comics 1, #1 was registered as April 18, 1938. ''Action Comics'' #1000 (cover dated Early June 2018) is the 1,002nd issue of the original run of the comic book/magazine series ''Action Comics'' (after special #0 and #1,000,000 tie-ins to '' Zero Hour: Crisis in Time!'' and ''DC One Million'' respectively). It features several Superman stories from a variety of creators, including previously unpublished artwork by Curt Swan, who drew Superman for nearly four decades.
