City Of Lincoln Council Elections
One third of the City of Lincoln Council in Lincolnshire, England is elected each year, followed by one year when there is an election to Lincolnshire County Council instead. The council is divided up into 11 wards, electing 33 councillors, since the last boundary changes in 2007. Political control Prior to 1974, Lincoln was a county borough, independent from any county council. Under the Local Government Act 1972 it became a non-metropolitan district, with Lincolnshire County Council providing county-level services in the city. The first election to the reconstituted city council was held in 1973, initially operating as a shadow authority before coming into its powers on 1 April 1974. City Of Lincoln Council
The City of Lincoln Council is the local authority for the district of Lincoln, England, Lincoln, in the county of Lincolnshire, England. The council consists of 33 councillors, three for each of the 11 Ward (electoral subdivision), wards in the city. It is currently controlled by the Labour Party (UK), Labour Party, led by Ric Metcalfe. The administrative headquarters is at Lincoln City Hall although council meetings are held at the Guildhall and Stonebow, Lincoln, guildhall. History The city of Lincoln had been an ancient borough and was made a county corporate in 1409 with its own court of quarter sessions, making it independent from the Parts of Lindsey, Lindsey Quarter Sessions. The borough corporation was reformed under the Municipal Corporations Act 1835 to become a municipal borough.
