Circle Of Friends (1995 Film)
''Circle of Friends'' is a 1995 film directed by Irish filmmaker Pat O'Connor, and based on the 1990 novel of the same name written by Maeve Binchy. The movie was well received by critics and was a box office success. Plot Set in 1950s Ireland, the film relates the experiences of Bernadette "Benny" Hogan and her friends: Eve Malone and Nan Mahon. They are characterised during their First Communion: Benny is the beloved and well-fed only child of a tailor with a shop, Eve is the orphan reared by nuns and Nan is destined to be defined by her beauty. They grow up in the small town of Knockglen. Eight years later, Nan has moved to Dublin, and Benny and Eve have graduated from convent school and are heading to Dublin and university. Andrew Wynford Davies (; born 20 September 1936) is a Welsh writer of screenplays and novels, best known for ''House of Cards (UK TV series), House of Cards'' and ''A Very Peculiar Practice'', and his adaptations of ''Vanity Fair (1998 TV serial), Vanity Fair'', ''Pride and Prejudice (1995 TV series), Pride and Prejudice'', ''Middlemarch (TV serial), Middlemarch'', ''Bleak House (2005 TV serial), Bleak House'' and ''War & Peace (2016 TV series), War & Peace''. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor stage performance, the original inspiration comes from a scene featuring tomatoes in the Canadian film ''Léolo'' (1992). Since January 2010, Rotten Tomatoes has been owned by Flixster, which was in turn acquired by Warner Bros in 2011. In February 2016, Rotten Tomatoes and its parent site Flixster were sold to Comcast's Fandango. Warner Bros. retained a minority stake in the merged entities, including Fandango. Michael Anthony Doyle (21 July 1935 – 28 January 2000) was an Irish television and film actor. He became widely known in Ireland as a then-radical priest in the popular Irish rural drama ''The Riordans'', which began in 1965.
