The Poetry Of Decay
Cindytalk is an experimental music project, founded in 1982. Cindytalk operated as a group for many years, but more recently has been a solo project by Cinder (previously known as Gordon Sharp), a Scottish performer and the only constant member since 1982. 1982–2003 Cindytalk was formed in 1982 by Cinder (vocals) and David Clancy (guitar, keyboards) from the ashes of Edinburgh-based punk/new wave band The Freeze. After re-locating to London in 1982, Cindytalk began to work towards their debut album ''Camouflage Heart'', with a darker and more fractured sound that drew much from post-punk and early European industrial music. In 1983 Cinder and Clancy were joined by John Byrne who proved to be a crucial component in Cindytalk's deliberately disintegrating sound. The album ''Camouflage Heart'' appeared to some critical acclaim in the UK music press. Shortly after ''Camouflage Heart'', David Clancy left the band and was replaced by brother/sister team Alex and Debbie Wright. The ...

Hold Everything Dear
''Hold Everything Dear'' is a 2011 album from Cindytalk released by Editions Mego, catalogue number eMEGO 122. All tracks were written and recorded by Cindy Sharp and Matt Kinnison, 2006-11. Description The following description is from thEditions Mego website "Hold Everything Dear is the third installment in the new Cindytalk sound which started with 2007’s The Crackle of My Soul, and then last years Up Here in The Clouds. It is the first in the trilogy to feature musicians other than Cindy Sharp namely the late Matt Kinnison, to whom the album is dedicated. Inspired by the John Berger book of the same name, this latest release is whole new set of parameters which push the sound on the previous two works to an extreme point of abstraction, and in some places near silent passages and haunted melodic segments. And what a mysterious journey this ends up being with increased use of piano and found/field recordings giving all the tracks a blurry soundtrack appeal to the point where ...

The Freeze (Scottish Band)
The Freeze was an Edinburgh punk band that lasted from 1976–1981. Wanting to do something darker and noisier, Gordon Sharp and David Clancy took ideas from The Freeze to a greater extreme; the result was the formation of Cindytalk in 1982. History The Freeze were formed in 1976 by Gordon Sharp, David Clancy and Keith Grant, all pupils together at school in Linlithgow, West Lothian. Grangemouth based drummer George Falconer played with the band during 1977. Most notable gig during this period was a support slot for Dunfermline band The Skids. The set consisted of originals and covers of The Ramones and Brian Eno. At this time, "The Freeze" didn't fit in at all with the vogue "punk look and attitude" of the time, having an angry sound but more an affinity with bands such as Television and Talking Heads. Clancy used several effects pedals on the guitar to add depth, volume and interest to his sound. On occasion, Sharp would use a knife on the guitar whilst Clancy played, creat ...
