Cilia Van Dijk
Cilia van Dijk Lieshout (22 November 1941 – 26 April 2023) was a Dutch film producer. Her film work includes ''DaDa'', ''Frieze Frame'', ''I Move, so I Am'', ''The Last Words of Dutch Schultz'' and ''Anna & Bella''. ''Anna & Bella'' earned her an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film as producer. Life and career In 1963, Van Dijk-Lieshout married Gerrit van Dijk, a Dutch animator. In 1978 she created Animated People, a distributor of Dutch animation films. Van Dijk died on 26 April 2023, at the age of 81. Uden
Uden () is a town and former municipality in the province of North Brabant, Netherlands. Since 2022 it has been part of the new municipality of Maashorst. History Uden was first recorded around 1190 as "Uthen". However, earlier settlements have been found in the areas of the modern day Moleneind, Vorstenburg and Bitswijk and evidence of Ice Age settlements has been found near the hamlet of Slabroek. From 1324 Uden was ruled by the Valkenburg house and became a part of the . After 1397 it became a part of the German duchy of Cleves. Uden was hardly affected by the Eighty Years' War and gained religious freedom in 1631. A result of this was the establishment in the municipality of the Crosiers, who fled from Protestant Dutch oppression in 's-Hertogenbosch in 1638. Gerrit van Dijk (5 December 1938 – 4 December 2012) was a Dutch animator, film maker, actor and painter. Biography Gerrit van Dijk was born in a pious Catholic family in the village of Volkel, in the municipality of Uden. He studied as a fifteen-year-old boy at the academy in Tilburg. He was not very satisfied about the school. "You only learn technique. The creativity you learn is no creativity at all. You know exactly what colour socks you should wear and what your hair should look like, but not how to put something on paper." After having finished his study, he limited himself to teaching only. When he took up the brush after many years to start for himself, his work met enthusiasm at home and abroad. He worked intensively with other artists from other disciplines on projects that often raised controversy. Børge Ring
Børge Ring (17 February 1921 – 27 December 2018) was a Danish animated short film writer, director and animator. His 1978 short film ''Oh My Darling'' won the Best Short Film award at the 1978 Cannes Film Festival, and his 1984 short film ''Anna & Bella'' won the Best Animated Short Film award at that year's Academy Awards. Personal life and death Børge Ring was the son of composer Oluf Ring. He was born in Ribe, Denmark, and his family later moved to Funen. He had a wife Joanika, who worked as a sculptor, and they had two children. Ring died on 27 December 2018 at the age of 97. Career Early in his career Ring was active as a jazz contrabassoonist and guitarist, performing in several bands. Ring worked on an adaption of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Tinderbox, which was the first Danish animated feature.
