Episcopal Church Of The Good Shepherd (Berkeley, California)
The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is an historic Carpenter Gothic style Episcopal church building located at 1001 Hearst Street at Ninth Street (1823 Ninth Street) in Berkeley, California. Built in 1878, it was designed in the Carpenter Gothic style of architecture by architect Charles L. Bugbee who was associated with his father Samuel C. Bugbee in the San Francisco firm of S. C. Bugbee & Son. Charles L. Bugbee patterned it after the Carpenter Gothic style Mendocino Presbyterian Church, which the firm had designed in 1867. While all of the Mendocino church's exterior walls are of board and batten siding, only the upper walls of Good Shepherd are board and batten while the lower walls are of Dutch lap weatherboarding. Church Of The Good Shepherd-Episcopal (Blue Earth, Minnesota)
Church of the Good Shepherd Episcopal, a notable example of Rural Gothic architecture located at Moore and 8th Streets in Blue Earth, Minnesota, is the oldest surviving church building in the community. As the congregation diminished in the 1970s regular worship services were eventually suspended; in 1981 its three remaining members donated the building to the Faribault County Historical Society. Since then the church has hosted seasonal ecumenical services, Christmas concerts, weddings, and funerals. It was added to the National Register in 1980. Establishment of the Parish Blue Earth was established in 1856 and, while most of its early settlers were Methodists, Episcopalians and Presbyterians also arrived from the east. The first Episcopal service in the city was held in the Presbyterian church on December 10, 1867. The Church of the Good Shepherd is a historic Episcopal church in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. The congregation branched off of Christ Episcopal Church in 1874, making it the second oldest Episcopal parish in Raleigh. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina and served as the Pro-cathedral church of the diocese in the mid-1890s. The congregation's original building was completed in 1875 and served the parish until a larger stone building was proven necessary. The cornerstone of the current building was laid in 1899, and the first service in the new space was held on Easter Day of 1914. The Church of the Good Shepherd in Rosemont, Pennsylvania, is a progressive and inclusive Episcopal parish church in the liberal Anglo-Catholic tradition. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania and is located in the Philadelphia Main Line. History The parish was founded in 1869 as part of the Anglo-Catholic Oxford Movement revival in the Anglican Church, and was admitted to the Diocese of Pennsylvania in 1871. Its original church building was on the north side of Lancaster Avenue, just east of the present football stadium of Villanova University. The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is a historic church at 2374 Grant Avenue in Ogden, Utah. It was built in 1875 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Building History Good Shepherd Episcopal Church historic sanctuary was built in 1875 and is said to be the oldest building in continuous use in Ogden, Utah. Daniel Sylvester Tuttle was elected in 1866 to be the Missionary Bishop of Montana, with jurisdiction in Idaho and Utah Territories. Bishop Tuttle brought James Lee Gillogly as minister to Ogden in 1870. He and his wife Lucelia arrived on a Saturday and the very next day began holding services in the waiting room of the Ogden railroad depot. For a time they also lived in an unused freight car. In the winter of 1871, the Gilloglys purchased the corner on which Good Shepherd Church now stands for $1500 with money given by John D. Wolfe of New York City.
