Anglican Diocese Of South Carolina
The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina (ADOSC) is a diocese of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). The diocese covers an area of 24 counties in the eastern part of the state of South Carolina. In 2019, it had 20,195 baptized members and 52 parishes. The see city is Charleston, home to the Cathedral of St. Luke and St. Paul. The Anglican Diocese formed in 2012 when the historical Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina (EDOSC) split into two groups after a long period of conflict over theology and authority within the Episcopal Church. Bishop Mark Lawrence and a majority of the members of the historical diocese left the Episcopal Church but continued to claim diocesan property, including church buildings, and to be the continuation of the historical diocese. May River
The May River is a river in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The river is formed when the Lennard River splits into two channels north of Mount Marmion and near the Kimberley Downs Station homestead, the other channel being the Meda River. It continues to flow west north-westward through Poulton Pool until it eventually discharges into Stokes Bay, King Sound which is north-east of Derby. The river was named in 1881 by a pioneer of the area, George Julius Brockman, during an expedition in the Kimberley area looking for grazing land north of the Fitzroy River. He named the river after the granddaughter of John Septimus Roe, Mary Matilda (May) Thomson. The only tributaries of the May and the Lennard and Camiara Creek. 1898 Georgia Hurricane
The 1898 Georgia hurricane was a major hurricane that hit the U.S. state of Georgia, as well as the strongest on record in the state. It was first observed on September 29, although modern researchers estimated that it developed four days earlier to the east of the Lesser Antilles. The hurricane maintained a general northwest track throughout its duration, and it reached peak winds of on October 2. That day, it made landfall on Cumberland Island in Camden County, Georgia, causing record storm surge flooding. The hurricane caused heavy damage throughout the region, and killed at least 179 people. Impact was most severe in Brunswick, where a storm surge was recorded. Overall damage was estimated at $1.5 million (1898 USD), most of which occurred in Georgia.
