Church Of God Of The Union Assembly
The Church of God of the Union Assembly, previously known as The Union Assembly of the Church of God, is a Holiness movement, Holiness church which was organized in 1920 in Walker County, Georgia by dissidents from the Church of God Mountain Assembly. Its primary numerical strength appears to lie in the North Georgia (U.S. state), Georgia and East Tennessee areas. The Founder of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. Inc. began his ministry right after the turn of the century. Reverend Charlie T. Pratt was ordained October 18, 1910 in Gold Bug, Kentucky and immediately his travels to different towns and then to different states. The following year he traveled to Bartow County, Georgia where he held a tent revival. A church was organized at Cass Station and they called him to be Overseer. By 1915 Rev. Holiness Movement
The Holiness movement is a Christian movement that emerged chiefly within 19th-century Methodism, and to a lesser extent other traditions such as Quakerism, Anabaptism, and Restorationism. The movement is historically distinguished by its emphasis on the doctrine of a second work of grace, generally called entire sanctification or Christian perfection and by the belief that the Christian life should be free of sin. For the Holiness Movement "the term 'perfection' signifies completeness of Christian character; its freedom from all sin, and possession of all the graces of the Spirit, complete in kind." The Church of God, Mountain Assembly (CGMA) is a holiness Pentecostal Christian body formed in 1907, with roots in the late 19th-century American holiness movement and early 20th-century Pentecostal revival. The denomination maintains headquarters in Jellico, Tennessee and is a member of the Pentecostal/Charismatic Churches of North America (formerly the Pentecostal Fellowship of North America). The main geographical strength of the body (about 65% of the churches) is in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee.
